St. Cloud, Florida is a town in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,692 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Escambia County. The name "Escambia" comes from Spanish and means "lower bridge." In 1821, Thomas Moultrie came to St Cloud with his family and established himself as a farmer there. In 1829-30, he built a log cabin on what is now US-441 south of downtown St Cloud. The Moultries had four children: Anna (1829-1901), John (1831-1910), Martha (1833-1900) and Sarah (1835-1902). They all came to live in St Cloud until 1840 when they emigrated to Georgia due to the Seminole Indian War which ended with the Treaty of Fort Payne. Sarah's husband John died in 1842 and she moved back to St Cloud where she raised her four children until their father's death in 1901. She then took them back east where they lived for many years before moving again to California in 1946 after her eldest daughter married an American serviceman stationed there during World War II. The last living member of the original Moultrie family was Alice Fenton who passed away on December 2nd, 2007 at age 98 years old surrounded by her five grandchildren - one of whom was her great grandson from her sister’s marriage to an American serviceman stationed here during World War II - and two sets of sisters who were also related bymarriage: Barbara Fenton Neely and Alice Neely Conover

Thisgave rise to speculation that land down near cape Moccasin could be gathered for this purpose since Cooks voyage). In 1827 Swedish immigrant Anders Hedgren settled here with his family from Sverige (now Sweden) after reaching North America via shipwreck off Newfoundland in 1824-25 and escaping British captivity aboard HMS Beagle under captain Darwin Knight’s command while searching for new lands south of Australia/New Zealand In 1828 Danish immigrant Ole Olsen arrived at Clearwater River Landing just east of downtown and began operations as a fur trader mainlanding at Fort Snelling until 1830 when he moved upriver to Valdez where he built a flour mill before establishing himself as an entrepreneur with interests including lumbering, real estate development and phosphate production Hedberg Bros Operating Co established itself in 1840 shipping fruit products out of Clearwater River Landing before moving its business ashore along US 10 some miles south into what is now downtown .
