The United States Air Force deployed a gift to Sweetwater, Florida in 1944. The gift was a B-24 Liberator bomber. The bomber had been donated by the airplane manufacturer Boeing. The bomber was christened "Sweetwater" and stationed at Goodyear Airport in Sweetwater, Florida until 1945. It was then used as a training aircraft for the military's Fighter Squadron 131st Fighter Group which operated from Goodyear Airport until 1951. The fighter squadron also flew missions over Cuba during the Cold War. In 1947, the squadron moved to Homestead AFB and continued operations until 1957 when it moved back to Goodyear Airport where it remained until its disbandment in 1961. In total, "Sweetwater" flew 447 missions with the USAF between 1944 and 1961.

At the time of its deployment, the AAF gifted a World War II-era Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft to the town. The aircraft is now on display at Sweetwater Air National Guard Base.
Sweetwater is a city in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,811 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Hammond Combined Statistical Area. The first settlers in Sweetwater were white people who arrived in 1821 from Georgia. They named their community "Lone Pine". In 1837, the Seminole Tribe set up a camp on theranch known as Tallahassee Country Club and changed its name to Sweetwater after then-Governor Andrew Johnson sweetened relations with them by giving them land at Tallassee Key near Gainesville. In 1907, two brothers named Harry and Leon Ford bought 1/4 mile (0.6 km) of beachfront property along Northeast 2nd Street from J.C. Lewis for $3 per acre (1 hectare). They built a small trading post and called it "Ford's Bay" because they had purchased it from General George Smedley Butler for $10 per acre (2 hectares). With access to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico beyond their property line, they soon became known as one of the most prosperous men in Northwest Florida. In 1949, Harry Ford donated his entire holdings-- including “Ford’s Bay”-- to the City of Sweetwater through donation deed #527J which still hangs on display at City Hall today! The gift allowed us to build our very own city hall! We are so grateful for this amazing gift from our fearless founder! After more than 50 years of hard work by many individuals and teams we have come a long way thanks to all that has gone before us! Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your support over these years! According to the 2000 US Census Bureau report "Sweetwater", there were 4,089 people living inSweetwater Township when it was established as an official municipality on February 14th 1920; 3,993 residents living within its limits when it was annexed into Monroe County on November 1st 1931; 4 current citizens living within those boundaries according to 2010 census figures; 2 former citizens residing within its limits according to 1940 census figures; 1 individual who resides outside any municipal boundaries
The United States Air Force deployed gift history as a way to remember the service members who have served and are currently serving. Gift History is an air force tradition that helps connect Service members with their loved ones back home. The program began in the early 1960s, when Air Force Officers were stationed at RAF Honington in England. After years of exchanging gifts, the officers decided to create a gift history for their squadron. They gathered all of their personal belongings and put them into sacks, took them to RAF Coningsby, where they stored until they moved on assignment again. From there, they would take the items home and start sending each other gifts. It wasn't long before officers realized that this was an important way to keep in touch with family back home and started sending more than just small packets of presents. Soon, everyone in the squadron received a gift from someone else within the air force! Gift History has continued to grow over time and now includes items like furniture, clothes, tools and even cars! The program is so popular that it's hard to keep up with all of the requests for donations! Sweetwater is a small town located in Osceola County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pensacola-Ft. Walton Beach-Mobile, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first residents of Sweetwater were German immigrants who arrived in 1836. They named their community after a small river that flowed through the area. The first shops and businesses in Sweetwater were ice cream parlors and grocery stores. In 1938, Sweetwater became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and seven council members. In 1970, the Town Council decided to change its name to Sweetwater after purchasing land from the state government for $1 million dollars. The townsfolk voted to change their name to sweet water because it means "pleasant water" in Spanish and they wanted to create a more positive image for their community before they began marketing it as a tourist destination. The current name of the town comes from when it was purchased by local citrus grower Harry Aiken Sr., who changed its name back to Sweetwater two years later due to confusion over which town he owned in Osceola County -Sweetwater or nearby Dothan (which also shares an identical ZIP code). Aiken donated all of his holdings in Dothan so that both towns could have their own independent histories without any conflict or jealousy among themselves... In 1984, Aiken's son Harry Junior gifted another piece of property adjacent to Dothan which served as the original site for Sweetwater High School; this property remains today as part of University Park Elementary School across from courthouse Square on Uptown Street near Gulfstream Boulevard.)
Sweetwater is a small town in Taylor County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,867 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Sweetwater was founded in 1873 by settlers from Tennessee and Kentucky who came to work on the railroad. In 1904, the town was named for Wm. Sweetwater, an early developer of Jacksonville's commercial district. The first school in Sweetwater opened in 1881, and the first post office opened in 1882. The first store opened in 1886. In 1912, Sweetwater became a city and incorporation took place that year. The original municipal building burned down in 1918; a new building was built and operations continued until 1951 when annexation occurred to Jacksonville suburb of Riverview which consolidated with Sweetwater municipally effective that year. In 1941, sweet water annexed Plantation Lakeside which included portions of Druid Hills Estates as well as present day Everglades City limits within its boundaries making it one municipality with two townships - including today's Plantation Lakeside Community Development District (PLCD) which includes all or parts of both Plantation Lakeside and Everglades City limits). Today these municipalities are known collectively as "Sweetwater". In 1964-1965 annexation occurred to Stonington Beach which made that community also one municipality with two townships - including today's Stonington Beach Community Development District (SBCD) which includes all or parts of both Stonington Beach and Everglades City limits).Today these municipalities are known collectively as "Stonington Beach". On November 7th 1905 JF Baird purchased land just east of present day Sweetwater Creek from J & C Whitesell for $1,500 cash plus 10% interest payable annually on any profits generated from the land over a five-year period beginning upon purchase date
