Air force gift history in Sweetwater, Florida begins with the creation of the United States Air Force on December 17, 1947. The USAF was established as a separate service within the Department of Defense and was given its own cabinet-level department, the Office of Special Plans. On February 15, 1949, General Curtis LeMay became Director of Special Plans and commander-in-chief of US Air Forces in Europe (USAFE). This position gave him operational control over all USAF assets in NATO’s Western Bloc region. In early 1951, General LeMay proposed to President Harry S Truman that the USAF should be made into an independent military service with its own budget and command structure. The proposal was accepted and on July 1st, 1951 Congress passed House Resolution 134 which created AFG as a separate branch within the military services under Joint Chiefs of Staff jurisdiction. On November 3rd, 1954 – two years after being established – AFG received its first Boeing jet fighter aircraft from American Aircraft Corporation (AAC) for use by No. 24 Squadron RAF at Bovingdon Airport near London. These were followed by further purchases during 1955–1957 including six Lockheed L-049 Constellations airframes and four Republic F-84 Thunderjets airframes; these jets replaced Douglas C-47 Skytrains used hitherto by RAF squadrons flying daylight intruder missions against U2 or other secret targets over North America. In 1957–1960 AFG also acquired three McDonnellDouglas DC8 commercial passenger planes for use as tanker aircraft carrying troops and supplies across North America during Operation Neptune’s Spear –the largest offensive operation undertaken by USAF since World War II. By 1961 AFG had also acquired seven Beechcraft Kingair turboprop planes for use providinglift capacity for Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces (HEF) when deploying forces overseas to support NATO tasks such as “Operation Market Garden” in 1965 and “Operation CORONA III” in 1969 respectively; these operations helped contribute toAfghanistan becoming an integral part of NATO after that country gained independence from Afghanistan’s Soviet occupiers following their aborted invasion in 1979; this event is often considered to be AFB’s proudest achievement. In 1987 four McDonnell Douglas MD80As were purchased from British Aerospace plc as part of the US Air Force's "Wings Over Europe" program - these were subsequently renamed "Eagle 66" after reaching operational status within AFB & serving with No 49 Wing RAF at Fairford until 2011 when they were retired & replaced by McDonnell Douglas MD119Cs operated out of Warton AB UK until 2015 when they were withdrawn from active duty & replaced by Airbus A319 cabins operated out of Bagram AB Afghanistan until 2017 when they reached retirement status effective 01/01/17

Sweetwater is a town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Sweetwater were farmers and their families who arrived around 1885. By 1910, the town had a population of 531 residents. The town was renamed Sweetwater after Major General Oliver O'Neal's headquarters were located there during World War I. In 1922, Sweetwater incorporated as a village and has remained so ever since. In 1973, Sweetwater became an unincorporated community when it merged with neighboring Lake Worth to form the Kissimmee–Lake Worth International Airport area annexed by Palm Beach County. As such, it is one of only two unincorporated communities within Palm Beach County that are still entirely separate from its mainland county counterpart; the other being Everglades City which is also part of Miami-Dade County but shares borders with Broward and naked Hillsborough counties (excluding downtown Fort Lauderdale). According to the US Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land except for . Of this land, is water (estimated at 3%), making it one of eight communities in Palm Beach County that have no municipal boundaries other than those defined by water bodies: Lake Worth (the largest), Parkland Village (a subdivision off State Road A1A near Sunrise Boulevard), Indian Harbour Beach (just south of Coconut Creek Boulevard), Boca Raton Lakeside Villages Bloomingdale Estates Pahokee Ranch HighlandsDeLand RanchShorehaven IslesWest palm beach As one result of its annexation into Palm Beach County by way of Kissimmee-Lake Worth International Airport – once considered an enclave surrounded only by Miami-Dade County – Sweetwater now enjoys city status within its own right as well as providing access to all public services currently available through Manatee & Sarasota Counties’ respective sheriff's departments; including mowing lawns for county residents who may maintain yards on airport property; collecting trash daily from both airports; providing police officers on call 24/7 outfitted with law enforcement radios and body cameras; ashes collection for Memorial Day weekend service at both airports as well as curbside recycling and composting services for residents inside or outside airport property while also offering free golf carts to any resident over 18 years old who brings their own bagpipes or drums to compete in traditional summer festival games sponsored by both airports each year -Notable events which have taken place include fireworks displays over Clear Water Bay on Memorial Day weekend connected directly to adjacent airport properties judiciary proceedings taking place simultaneously just north OF airport grounds during Easter week many concerts throughout year large international Flag Display ceremonies staged each New Year's weekend

One interesting fact about Sweetwater is that it is home to one of only two remaining original cotton gin mills in America. The other mill closed in 2000 after 103 years on the ground floor of One Commerce Center mall.
The Sweetwater River was first settled in 1830. The community of Sweetwater was founded by a group of settlers from Georgia and Alabama who traveled down the river to find land and start a new life. In 1834, the town of Sweetwater became the county seat for Polk County. The railroad arrived in 1845 and madeSweetwater an important commercial center. By 1890, the population had grown to over 5,000 people. The region saw many changes during the 20th century, including World War II and the Korean War. In 1959, Polk County merged with Duval County to form Florida's third largest county.
