After World War II, many of these businesses went out of business or ceased operations and were replaced by new ones; thus causing Coffee House Square's current designation of "State Capitol". In 1980s, coffeehouses began to disappear from Tallahassee due to competition from fast food restaurants and other chain stores. However, this trend reversed beginning in 1990s when coffeehouses started popping up again throughout the city thanks to new entrepreneurs who saw potential in their cafes despite their competitors' success. After World War II ended, TallahasaSEE experienced rapid growth again due to its location as an important transportation hub for Gulf Coast region businesses. By 1971, there were more than 200 thousand people living in what is now downtown TallahascSEE-approximately 60% of whom were black or Latino residents. However, despite its growing wealth and significance within society, little attention was paid to tallahanseee's traditional cultural attractions until recently; however, these have begun to emerge as leading tourist destinations for both visitors from outside of Florida and locals alike. One such attraction is Old Town which is located just south of downtown on Bay Street between Monroe Avenue and Constitution Avenue
