By 1957, The Dutchman’s Coffee House had closed its doors and all of Tallahassee’s roasting operations were taken over by two companies: Peet’s Coffee Company and First National Bank. In 1973, First National Bank merged with Pan American World Airways to form Pan American World Airways Inc., which became one of the largest airline companies in North America. This new company bought out several smaller airlines, including Tallahassee-based Gulfstream Airlines Inc., which continued operations as Gulfstream Aerospace Holdings Incorporated until 2003 when it was purchased by Continental Air Lines Corporation (CAL). At this point, CAL renamed itself Delta Air Lines Co., Inc.. In 2006 Delta sold its passenger service division (including GTE Nextel) to Comcast Corporation (CMS), who merged it into their larger NBCUniversal division. These days Delta is a part of Comcast's Universal Communications Group. Tallahassee, Florida is a city in the state of Florida and the county seat of Hillsborough County. The population was 66,631 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to explore this area were Giovanni da Verrazzano and his crew on sailing vessels in 1584-1585. The area now known as Tallahassee was part of Spanish Fort, which was established by Governor Pedro Menéndez de Avila on July 24, 1763 as an outpost on what is now US 41 near today's downtown airport. In 1821, when Seminole Indians began raids into Georgia and Alabama, Ulysses S. Grant ordered Captain James Wilkinson (later General) with two steamboats to cruise along Bayous LaFleur and Apalachicola Rivers looking for guerrilla warfare strategies against them while under cover of darkness; instead they discovered sugarcane plantations with slave labor - something that had neverbefore been seen in this region! Wilkinson then directed his crewsmen to plant three miles inland from where they'd found sugar cane - becoming one of history's firstslave settlements! In 1835 Governor Carlos Moseley renamed Tallahassee "modern day Tallahassee" after defeating a Seminole Indian uprising there less than a year earlier at Lake Wales about forty miles southeast of Tallahasa

Fenton's victorious campaign against Spanish forces in that year. The city experienced significant growth during the 19th century as a result of its strategic location at the mouth of the St. Johns River and its connections to both Indian Territory and Alabama. After Florida achieved statehood in 1907, Jacksonville became the state's second capital.
