In 1902, another firearm donation arrived within days ofCaptain Aiken’s shotgun purchase: an armory-full of rifles donated by Samuel Prentice Cooley Sr., owner of Prentice & Sons Rifle Shop in Jacksonville Beach. These rifles were initially meant for use by local militia forces stationed throughout northern Florida; however, they soon found their way into the hands of Tallahassee civilians as well.
