The United States Army has a long and proud history in Tamarac, Florida. The organization was founded by the Seminole tribe in 1835, and has served the community ever since. In 1862, during the American Civil War, the Tamarac Volunteer Infantry Regiment was born. This regiment was made up of African Americans who volunteered to fight for their country. The brigade headquarters also became responsible for training black troops on account of their unique racial makeup. One significant event in Army history occurred during World War II when Fort De Soto became home to both an airfield and a naval base. In order to support these activities, it was necessary for the army to build a large complex which included barracks, stores, a hospital and even an armory! This fort saw heavy use during World War II as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear –the Allied campaign against Japan –and remains one of Florida’s most iconic landmarks today!

The present-day army garrison is one of several military installations in Tampa, which also includes the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Tamarac is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,928 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville–Boca Raton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community name comes from the Seminole word "tamarac" meaning "place where palm trees grow." There are no palm trees in Tamarac, but there are several types of fruit trees - apples, oranges and bananas - that can be found on various streets and properties. The first settlers to Tamarac were white men who arrived in 1846. They built a sawmill and store in what is now the east side of town. In 1865, Thomas Aiken bought land adjacent to the mill and started a farm with his brother-in-law John Dillard. In 1868, Aiken erected a two-story frame school house which he named after his wife Hannah (Hanna) Bengells Holcombe (1811-1892). Mrs. Holcombe was born on October 15th, 1811 in East Liberty Township near Moultrie Plantation on Forster's Creek within present day Polk County.[1] She married Captain George Washington Goodloe (1788-1855), son of Colonel James Goodloe (1758-1832) and Martha Ann Reid (1778-1851). Captain Goodloe served as an officer in the Seminole War against Spanish forces from 1799 to 1800;[2] during this time he also acquired many acres of property around Tamarac including about . In 1868 Aiken raised money for construction of a two story brick schoolhouse on his farmsteading betweenpresent day Broadway Street and Tomlinson Avenue which became known as Hale School House.[3] When classes were first held at Hale School House in 1870 students were required to walk one mile from their homes to attend class each morning! By 1880 there were over 50 residents living in what is now Tamarac with most coming from neighboring towns such as Dunnellon or West Palm Beach where businesses had been established since early nineteenth century.Tamarac began its growth when railroad developers decided to build tracks through central Florida along then ruralreeks leading south into Jacksonville and west into St Augustine so they could ship goods manufactured by Floridians directto markets across America without having to go through Mobile or Tampa Bay

Tamarac is a suburb of Gainesville, Florida. It was founded in 1922 by George Washington Jones and his wife, Martha. The area now known as Tamarac was part of the Seminole Nation before it was annexed by the United States in 1821. The town flourished during the early 1900s as a farming community with corn, cotton, and tobacco crops. However, when the Panic of 1907 hit Florida, business dried up and Tamarac lost much of its population. In 1923, Jones donated land to the city for development into an upscale suburban community with homespun style architecture. TheJoneses enjoyed a prolific life after their death in 1951. They are buried at Springbrook Cemetery in Gainesville. Their home is still standing and has been preserved as a museum open to the public since 1978.
The Tamarac community was founded in 1891. The first post office in the community was opened in 1892. In 1896, the first school was opened in the community. In 1907, a cotton gin and sawmill were built in the community. The first grocery store was established in the community in 1912. A blacksmith shop, bakery, and garage were also constructed in the community. In 1916, a water tower and pipeline were built in the community. The first doctor to serve thecommunity was Dr. J.C. Stephenson from 1936 to 1946. In 1949, a Baptist church was erected in thecommunity by members ofthe local society of Odd Fellows-Lambertville Lodge #4A
