Soon, other cafes followed suit and the tradition of espresso being served with a blend of milk and cream was born. The popularity of coffee spread throughout Tampa during the 1920s and 1930s. By the 1940s, many people in the city had become familiar with the drink and were enjoying its unique flavor profile. During this time period, Coffee House Cafe became one of the most popular places to get coffee in town. In 1970, Coffee House Cafe closed its doors but continued to be frequented by locals until it finally disappeared from history in 1992 when it was replaced by Starbucks.

In 1825, an American entrepreneur, John D’Arcy McGee, started importing African coffee trees from South Africa. This led to a shift away from table-service beverages such as tea and coffee to canned goods such as coconuts and watermelon

Tampa, Florida is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 1 million as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat and most populous municipality of Pinellas County. Tampa has been an important center of trade and commerce since its founding in 1836 as a trading post on the now-defunct St. Petersburg River. The city became a major port for shipping goods to and from the Gulf Coast during World War II and became known for its successful downtown redevelopment program which included the construction of many high-rise office buildings, such as One Clearwater Plaza, Home Depot Center, and Hillsborough County Regional Medical Center. In 2006, Tampa was selected to become part of the new St. Petersburg–Clearwater metropolitan area under Mayor Bob Buckhorn's proposal to encourage growth in this struggling region by moving more jobs into what he called "the anchor districts." This would bring new residents and businesses into areas such as Midtown Tampa and Downtown Clearwater. As part of his push to make downtown better serve all residents within his town limits, Buckhorn also announced that he had obtained permits for two large mixed-use development projects - one near Hillsborough Stadium (which would be home to the Rays baseball team) and another at Port Richey - both intended to create thousands of square feet (100 m2) per floorpace in permanently vacant properties across several blocks from then-Governor Jeb Bush's family home at Bay Point Marina
