In 1922, the first caffeine-free coffee was produced in Tarpon Springs when the United States Department of Agriculture began importing coffee from Brazil that had been roasted without any caffeine. Tarpon Springs is the remnants of an early Spanish settlement that was established on the Apalachicola River in 1824. It became a citrus growing and fishing station during the 1800s and persisted until becoming agricultural center in the 1920s when its primary crop was sugarcane. The name "Tarpon" comes from two nearby rivers: Pompano Creek and Apalachicola River. The first mention of "Tarpon" was in 1686 by Father Pierre- Jacques Marquette, who called it "Haiti." On October 30, 1824, Tarpon Springs received a charter from King George IV of England as a town under British rule with a population of 609 people. By 1827 Tarpon Springs had 12 stores and 100 acres (40 hectares) of land cultivated with 11 crops per season yielding $1,000 per acre (€930/km2). In 1865 Tarpon Springs had 7 churches including St John's Episcopal Church which served as both community center and parish church for most residents throughout their history; Second Baptist Church which became active in holding meetings outside before 1906; Methodist Episcopal Zion Church which built its first sanctuary in 1902; First Presbyterian Church which began services on October 1, 1896; Baptist Churches United Methodist Parish - South congregation building completed 1905; First Presbyterian Chapel School opened 1927 & later closed due to lack of students but standing structure still stands today as museum annexe within Historic District boundaries); Union Baptist Tabernacle started service 1915 as Community Building #2 & served as Cathedral until 1930 when cornerstone laid for new Tabernacle across street also serving congregation until demolition& replacement commenced circa 1975-1980 (& now used for restaurant use). When state legislature moved county seat to Tallahassee in 1931 it lost all southern Flagler County aura & designation as such reverted back to original name but has been consistently spelled 'TARPON SPRINGS' ever since without any alternates or clarifications hereinbelow even though various other spellings have been used over time thruout state borders etc.? The present day flagler county region around Tallahassee evolved out of Indian Territory following Seminole Wars fought between United States forces and Native American tribes beginning December 15th 1861 up until May 4th 1868 when Florida ceded this territory to the United States pursuant to Treaty between Great Britain & America 2nd February 1763 ending military hostilities resulting from disputed boundary waters areas along Apalachicola River system westward As far northward boundary line ran approximately 8 miles (13 km) below mouth or estuary known then as Nacogdoches Inlets lying just east side Of us upon river Tombigbee current known then generally laying within limits aforesaid thro’ entire course To our knowledge there are not written records extant relating thereto however oral traditions abound among our earliest white settlers hereabouts that certain individuals among them acquired exclusive right to navigate Inlet undisturbed by others so long As they fished therein exclusively AND did not trade with Indians? Thereafter Inlet continued Undisturbed By Others But navigation rights were eventually given away auxiliously TO CANAAN FISHERMEN BY PRESIDENT JAMES KNOLLS IN 1912??? It should be noted that many local products still feature these roots such as Old Time Creamery's sour cream pies made from milk collected from cows grazing on sugar cane fields near their plant - home grown produce also found inside walls daily! After years of being an agricultural center focused primarily on sugar cane production within Flagler County one key change took place after World War II when industry shifted towards mississippi cotton production driving out most agriculture businesses statewide. This coincided with increased attention paid nationally to tropical storms affecting coastal communities like Tallahassee during this time period leading some locals to take actionifying their town setting off responses such as purchasing full coveragearmored cars similar to those seen today on streets throughout hurricane impacted areas??????

The area that became Tarpon Springs was first settled by Native Americans in the 17th century. In 1821, Colonel Andrew Jackson Purchase purchased land around what is now Tarpon Springs from the Seminole Indians. It wasn't until after he vacated the area that white people started to settle in Tarpon Springs. By 1830, there were only a handful of immigrants living in Tarpon Springs when it was named for Major General George Washington's Creek expedition which explored the Everglades region of Florida during the 1800s. General Washington had two daughters living in Tarpon Springs and they are credited with naming it after their hometown of Spring Hill, Tennessee. In 1892, entrepreneur J.W. Saucier developed a dry dock on Lake Okeechobee that would become one of Jacksonville's most important industries and helped lead to Jacksonville becomingFlorida's largest city by 1900. When prohibition began circulating through America during the early 1920s, many businesses went out of business including Saucier's dock company which closed its doors for good in 1924 when prohibition was repealed nationwide
Tarpon Springs is a city in Sarasota County, Florida, United States. The population was 16,683 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Myers-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Tarpon Springs was first settled by Seminole Indians in the 18th century. A post office called "Tarpon" was established in 1793, and remained in operation until 1854. In 1885, Tarpon Springs became a town under Spanish control after Florida gained its independence from Spain. In 1907, the name of Tarpon Springs was changed to Sarasota after then-Governor James D. Bailey offered a $1 million check for the erection of a new state Capitol building on Bayfront Avenue. The cornerstone for the current Capitol Building was laid on February 14, 1909 by Governor Bailey with his wife Lucille Payne Bailey as honorary plumber and engineer on hand as witnesses. The original building cost $2 million and took six years to build; it replaced an earlier courthouse which had been destroyed by fire in 1893. In 1928, Hurricane Donna struck Sarasota County and caused extensive damage to businesses and homes across the county including parts of downtown Tarpon Springs where water pipes were burst and entire blocks were flooded including Guadalupe Square which housed several department stores at that time along with some high profile residents such as oil millionaire John Denton who lost most of his property but still managed to erect his own home out of mud and bricks - one example among many examples of howearly 20th century American development can be seen today even though often left forgotten due to modernism trends which often try to erase all traces or reminders of pre-industrial times
