In 1949, AFGift became part of the then known as National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). As part of NASA's program to promote space exploration, AFGift became a source for spacecraft gifts for various government agencies. Upon his deathbed instructions from his wife dictated that all remaining descendants receive half their father's estate - which amounted to $22 million USD at time - divided equally between them among them upon his death ensuring continued family cohesion within an increasingly pluralistic society such as ours today."
