The United States Air Force (USAF) is one of the most powerful and expensive militaries in the world. The USAF has a long history of giving gifts to its members, both civilian and military. One of the earliest USAF gift traditions was the Christmas party. In 1947, General Curtis LeMay organized a Christmas party for all USAF personnel at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. This event was followed by a summer party in 1949 at Pope AFB, Georgia. These parties were an excellent opportunity for officers and enlisted personnel to meet and mingle with each other. The Air Force's 1st Missile Wing gifted a new launcher to the Temple Terrace Police Department in 2013. The gift was in memory ofLt. Col. John A. "Bud" Hayes, who died in action on December 8, 2004 while serving with the Air Force in Afghanistan.
In 1885, Temple Terrace was a small community located in northeastern Pinellas County, Florida. It consisted of about fifty residents and six businesses. The mainstay of the community’s economy was agriculture. Farming was the primary source of income for many people in the early 1900s. Many farmers were also involved in manufacturing. Manufacturing played an important role in the economy during the 1920s and 1930s as well. The population of Temple Terrace decreased from its peak around 1915 to less than 100 by 1940. However, it has since increased again and now stands at about 150 residents. The majority of these residents are recent immigrants who arrived in the late 1990s or early 2000s. Most of these immigrants have come from India, China, Vietnam, Romania, and other parts of Asia. Many people in Temple Terrace are proud members of their local churches which play a significant role in their lives. Churches such as First Baptist Church (founded 1906), Methodist Episcopal Church (1910), Presbyterian Church (1914), and Congregationalist church (1886) have all had long lasting impact on the community. As a result, Temple Terrace is home to some very vibrant religious communities that continue to contribute to its social fabric today.

Temple Terrace is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2000 census. It lies on the east bank of the St Johns River. The town was founded in 1892 by J.P. Morgan and his brother-in-law, Franklin Dillard. They named it after Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they had been educated. The first post office was established in 1893 and the first store opened in 1895. In 1897, a sawmill and gristmill were built and soon became one of the most important businesses in the community. In 1907, First National Bank moved from its original location to Temple Terrace and began issuing its own currency which helped establish the town's economy for years to come. The mill closed in 1966 but remains an important part of local history as it manufactured flour for many local restaurants until recently when it was taken over by a new company that has since closed down completely). The original shopping center that now exists on Main Street served as both primary retail and service center for Temple Terrace for many years until it eventually succumbed to neglect and demolition which took place between 2004-2009 according to unofficial estimates by residents; however full documentation about this process is not currently available to verify these claims because no records have been preserved or made available since then! One significant development that took place during this time frame related to temple Terrace's decline was a large number of homes being razed during what locals refer to as "the zoning change" campaign led by then Mayor John Hargrave who also served as Supervisor of Polk County at the time (and later became Governor of Florida). This campaign saw activist groups like Coalition Against Zoning Abuse take up arms against developers who were trying to build high rise subdivisions adjacent to downtown temples TERRACE!). In addition, anti-immigrant sentiment increased during this time period thanks largely to several large waves of Hispanic immigrants coming into central Florida during this decade (most notably those from Texas) seeking work opportunities & land within central FL!. As such much civic infrastructure including water systems, schools & fireplaces were quickly destroyed or neglected without any meaningful input from local residents! Consequently despite some valiant efforts over many years by activists/community members alike, much progress has not been made towards reversing recent trends& restoring Temple Terrice's former glory!
The first settlers in Temple Terrace, Florida were the ancestors of the current residents. The land that is now Temple Terrace was purchased by J.B. Holland in 1828 from the Creek Nation for $2,500. The first house built on the property was a log cabin named "The Old Homestead". A school was founded on the property in 1835 and later became known as "Holland's School." In 1848, a post office called "Temple Terrace" was established and remained in operation until 1907. In 1865, two brothers named Jesse and David Morse built a sawmill on the stream that flows through Temple Terrace. The mill continued to operate until it was destroyed by fire in 1904. In 1905, John Prentice built a cotton gin on the property which still stands today. The gin operated until it was destroyed by fire in 1916. In 1928, J.B. Holland sold his interest in the cotton gin to Wm Halsey Jr., who renamed it "Holland-Halsey Cotton Gin". The cotton gin continued to be operated until 1966 when it burned down again. In 1969, Holland-Halsey Cotton Gin received a National Historic Landmark designation from the United States Department of Agriculture due to its significance within Florida history
