The American Revolution was a time of great change and turmoil. Soldiers from all over the colonies fought for the freedom of their homes and countries. One of the most significant changes in this time was the development of an army. For many years, armies were composed largely of civilians who followed orders and fought in wars on behalf of their governments. However, during the revolution, soldiers sprung up to fight on their own behalf. This new army began to develop into a powerful force and soon became known as the Patriot Army. One key figure in this development was General George Washington. After serving in numerous campaigns throughout North America, Washington had enough experience to lead an army on his own. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the best commanders ever fielded by the Americans. In 1775, he led an invasion against British forces at Saratoga Springs, New York. This victory helped establishAmerican independence from Great Britain and setthe stage for future conflicts between various nations. After Saratoga Springs, Washington continued to lead successful military campaigns against British forces until 1783 when he resigned from his position as general due to health problems. In 1784, he moved back home to Virginia where he died three years later at age 74. His death marked a turning point in American military history because it allowed for other commanders such as John Adams (later president) and Benedict Arnold (a Royalist privateer) to take control of major engagements without having to worry about being fired if they failed

The Temple Terrace Army Museum is a military museum located in the city of Temple Terrace, Florida. It was founded in 1959 and is the only army museum in Sarasota County. The museum has displays on U.S.Army history from the American Revolution to World War II. There are also displays on weapons and technology used by the United States military, as well as memorabilia from local troops who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Temple Terrace, Florida is a small town located in Polk County, Fla. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. Temple Terrace is part of the Tallahassee-West Palm Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Temple Terrace were farmers who arrived in 1851. By 1868, some 60 dwellings had been built and by 1893, there were 132 residents. In 1925, the United Methodist Church was organized and began to build churches in the area. In 1951, the school district was formed and soon after new schools were built: a high school (1955), a middle school (1958), and an elementary school (1963). In 1969, Temple Terrace became the first town in Polk County to have its own city hall. On Jan. 24th of each year since 1978 has been "Towne Day". This event celebrates village growth with parade and dinner at the Main Street library on Saturday night followed by fireworks display over Lake Okeechobee on Sunday morning

Temple Terrace is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,994 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The CDP is located on Seminole Creek east of Interstate 95 and north of I-95's exit 63. Temple Terrace includes parts of the neighborhoods of Bayport and Neptune Beach. The community started as a series of small Indian villages along Seminole Creek which developed into an agricultural town in the early 1800s when white settlers arrived in search of cotton fields and other resources. In 1837, land developer James Sisson bought what is now Temple Terrace from the Chickasaw Nation for $5,000. In addition to its namesake temple near its core, Temple Terrace also included a store and post office that served residents until 1915. A Methodist church was founded there in 1898 by Reverend Wm Harnett; it burned down in 1903 but was rebuilt and again burned down in 1914 before being reoccupied by the congregation in 1925. A Baptist church also served residents until 1916 before being moved to nearby Neptune Beach. As development increased around the turn-of-the-century, much attention focused on Temple Terrace due to its location within walking distance of many businesses and services offered by Jacksonvilleans such as libraries, movie theaters, hospitals and schools. In 1908, Jacksonville annexed much of Lee County including much of what is now Temple Terrace including most residential areas northward to Indian Run Road (now US 98). This annexation made room for more people as well as more development - soon commercial buildings were sprouting up throughout downtown with residents commuting daily to work or school despite having little public transportation available outside their neighborhood or even within city limits! During World War II much progress was made during construction on I-95 southbound between Exit 63 (now Gulf Boulevard) and Exit 64 (now US 98), one mile east of where current Monk Drive intersects SR 337 just west of downtown Jacksonville proper - this project helped spur economic growth right through downtown which today still benefits from tourism seasonally! Today’s commercial districts have arisen specifically because they are close enough to major highways so that workers can easily access interstate shopping while still maintaining a tight radius around their workplaces/residential areas
The first thing that people noticed about Temple Terrace were the trees. The area had been cleared of trees by the founder, Augustus Best, in 1836. Best was a whaler who also founded the town of Key West. Best built his house on what is now South Orange Avenue. He named his home "Temple Terrace" after the temple in Philadelphia where he learned to read and write. The original house still stands today, and it is a museum that tells the history of Temple Terrace and Key West. In 1867, Augustus Best's son-in-law, James Fenton, bought land east of his father's house for $2,000. This land became Temple Terrace Park. In 1928, Temple Terrace Boulevard was created when it was combined with East Orange Avenue to form one road from Key West to Island City. In 1937, Hurricane Gilbert destroyed many homes in Key West and made landfall on nearby North Boca Raton Beach as a Category 4 hurricane. As a result of this event, many businesses were damaged or destroyed in key areas such as Temple Terrace Boulevard and Ocean Drive between South Congress Street and Lighthouse Road near Belle Isle Pier amusement park (later known as Dolphin Reef). Many homes along these streets were never rebuilt due to cost overruns; some stood empty until they were taken over by new owners during or after World War II when demand for housing skyrocketed around the area because of Pearl Harbor birthday celebrations; however most have been demolished since then . Most recently two properties which stand vacant: One located at 529 North Monroe Street (formerly 527 North Monroe Street) which has been used as an office building occupied by AAA Hometown Credit Union since 2013; another located at 5014 Coral Way which has been used for storage purposes since at least 1984 but not currently inhabited .
