Temple Terrace, Florida is a small town located in Polk County, Florida. The population was 2,547 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Gainesville-Montgomery Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first temple built in Temple Terrace was dedicated on July 6, 1892 by Judge Hiram Sibley and Rev. Wm. H. Singleton of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The present temple was dedicated on May 14, 1955 by Drs. John Fenton (1909-1996) and James Boren (1888-1978). In addition to its religious significance, Temple Terrace also has been home to many notable people such as George Washington Carver (1863-1943), Thomas Edison (1847-1935), and Elvis Presley (1937-1977). Today’s temple features a gift shop and an auditorium that can seat up to 1,500 people for religious services or community events. The building is also used for other purposes such as school functions and marketing presentations by local businesses.

Temple Terrace is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,503 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by white settlers in 1885. It was named for Jesse H. Temple, one of the first men to cross the Florida Straits and settle in what is now Temple Terrace. The town had a post office from 1886 to 1892 and a school from 1892 to 1907. In 1924, it became part of Lake City and incorporated as its own village. The economy of Temple Terrace has been largely agricultural since its founding; until recent years, most residents were employed within the local agriculture or fishing communities that surrounded it. However, there are also some small businesses which have developed in recent years related to health care services or tourism: an ultrasound clinic, coffee shop/cafeteria, hotel and conference center catering to visitors from all over Southwest Florida (including Orlando), as well as several homeschooling schools located nearby on State Road 371A which serve as classrooms for local students during school hours while parents are away at work; this has led to increased business activity in the area around Temple Terrace during off-peak hours (11am-6pm). In 2003, changes were made to zoning laws governing temple terrace so that more housing could be built near commercial corridors instead of scattered among residential neighborhoods; this led to an increase in development along I-4 South between US 192nd Street and SR 371A. Since then much new construction has taken place within walking distance of shopping malls such as Universal Studios Florida theme park and St Petersburg Mall both just north of downtown Orlando on SR 441 North - these developments have attracted new jobs (and families) who formerly commuting into central Orlando each day for work now can visit their favorite tourist destinations without havingto leave home!
