Temple Terrace, Florida was the birthplace of coffee in the early 1800s. The first coffee beans were roasted in a small farmhouse on Ferry Road near present day Magee Avenue. Coffee began to be sold commercially around 1825. In 1827, J. P. Morgan founded the First National Coffee Company in Philadelphia and purchased a large amount of coffee beans from the farmer at Ferry Road. He brought these beans back to Philadelphia and began marketing them as his own product. This company became one of the largest and most successful in history. In 1928, two brothers named Harry and Joe Newman opened their own coffee shop on State Street in Orlando, FL called Harry's Café No 1. This shop served quality Coffee until it closed its doors in 1984 and was replaced by Starbucks Corporation's Orlando headquarters building which currently stands vacant however an old sign still hangs inside advertising Harry's Cafeteria No 1 as "The Original Earl Grey Coffee Shop!".
Temple Terrace, Florida is a census-designated place located in Monroe County, Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,569. The area now called Temple Terrace was originally part of the town of Sanford. The first post office at Temple Terrace was established on February 14, 1892. It was renamed to Sanford on November 28, 1907. The first school in the area was built in 1915 and named after Vice President James K. Polk. In 1923, Sanford merged with nearby Fort Myers to form a new municipality called Temple Terrace which included all present-day Monroe County as well as most of what is now Lee County. On January 1, 1925, Samuel Hays formed a company known as Hays & Company (later renamed Jardine) to develop land adjacent to the then newly founded Temple Terrace by purchasing Lots No 10 and 11 from A&M College for $2 million dollars cash and 1/4 share of stock in that company which he sold to John Witherspoon for $1 million dollars cash on April 2nd 1926 The original land area now bounded by US 19E., US 192W., US 71N., FM 447S., and NW 8th St NW had been developed into farmlands by pioneer settlers before 1925 when it became part of the new municipality of Temple Terrace Many people who moved here during this time remain here today such as Dr. Harry Sanger who served as Medical Director at Grady Memorial Hospital from 1951 until his retirement in 1984 In recent years there has been much development taking place around the perimeter of town including an ongoing project to build a shopping mall just north of town center that will include restaurants and other amenities

Temple Terrace was a town in Polk County, Florida, located on the banks of the Kissimmee River. The population was 1,060 at the 2010 census. The community began as a small farming village in 1887 and soon became an important transportation hub for farmers and travelers searching for water rights or timberland along the river. In 1916, Temple Terrace merged with nearby Fort Pierce to form the new city of Fort Pierce. The town's economy changed after World War II when thousands of soldiers arrived in search of work in the area. The city grew rapidly thanks to its location on Interstate 95 and its access to shopping malls and other major metropolitan areas. However, growth stalled during the 1990s due to economic recession and a lack of available jobs in central Florida. In 2004,Fort Pierce receivership led to plans by local leaders to sell off most of the town's assets in order to save it from bankruptcy. Today, Temple Terrace remains a rural community with few amenities aside from a small grocery store and post office. Despite thislimited infrastructure, residents continue to rely on their proximity to I-95 for transportation and business opportunities.
The first white person to live in the area was Captain John St. George, who arrived in 1775 and claimed a plot of land on Temple Terrace. The next year, James Wilkinson purchased the land from Captain St. George. In 1810, Captain Wilkinson's son, William Wilkinson, sold the property to Isaiah Morse. In 1827, Reverend James Auld bought the property from Isaiah Morse and built a small house on it for himself and his family. In 1829, Rev. Auld donated the property to Trinity Episcopal Church which used it as their main church until 1945 when they moved to Broward County Memorial Park near Fort Lauderdale. In 1902-03, Temple Terrace was home to one of America's first ice skating rinks when it was opened by Captain Ernest Hemingway and his brother-in-law Arthur Waugh at their home on Gables Street in Miami Beach with $2 per day that they earned from renting out ice rink space over Labor Day weekendgeries throughout Florida and Mexico City during that season
