Titusville, Florida has a rich military history dating back to the early 1900s. The city is home to the 1st Squadron, 5th Cavalry Regiment, which was founded in 1918. During World War II, Titusville played an important role in the war effort as it was home to the Army's Military Sealift Command. The squadron was also responsible for delivering fuel and other supplies to troops in the Pacific Theater. After the war, Titusville experienced some growth and development within its military community. In 1977, the city became one of just four cities in Florida designated as a "Military City." This designation helped promote military-related businesses and initiatives within Titusville. In 2000, Congress passed legislation designating Titusville as an "Army Post Exchange" - making it one of only a few cities in America that serve this purpose. The Titusville Army National Guard was established on December 12, 1907 as the Florida State Defense Militia. It was redesignated the Titusville Army National Guard on October 1, 1912. The unit was activated on November 5, 1914 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Battalion, 9th Regiment Infantry (Florida), First Brigade Reserve Field Artillery (later 1st Brigade Field Artillery) when World War I began. The regiment served in France and Belgium before being sent to provide artillery support for American Expeditionary Forces in Germany during World War II. The regiment served in North Africa and Europe untilactivation on September 15, 1946 at Fort Polk, Louisiana as Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 3rd Battalion, 9th Regiment Infantry (Florida). On July 17, 1957 it became Battery A-2/9th Armor at Jacksonville Airport with headquarters relocated there from Fort Polk. On October 1, 1912 the Florida State Defense Militia redesignated the Titusville Army National Guard as Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Battalion, 9th Regiment Infantry (Florida). The unit activated on November 5 1916 at Miami Beach after being mustered in for four months under the provisions of United States Code Sections 1084 et seq., which called for military service during any war between America and Great Britain or Spain without discrimination against women or colored people. On May 16 1920 men from Orange County who had enlisted with Companies D-5 & E-6 were discharged by order of General Order No. 214 effective June 6 following their return home sick from a three day visit to Tampa Bay where they had participated in an exhibition game between Tampa Bay Rifles & US Marines vs South Carolina Light Dragoons at St Peters Church gymnasium [now Tropicana Field]]. Titusville, Florida is a small town in Hillsborough County, Florida. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area. The town was founded by pioneers in 1884 and named after Titus Wellesley Channing, an early settler and namesake of Channing Plantation on Longboat Key. The first post office opened in 1886 and the first school was built in 1888. The town grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its strategic location as a rail junction and agricultural center. In 1915, Titusville became one of two towns within Hillsborough County to be incorporated as a municipality; the other being Dunedin. During World War II, Titusville played host to several large military events including the Battle of Midway and Fallujah during WWII. After the war ended, many residents left for various reasons; most notably because of high taxes which led to decline in business activity throughout the 1970s-1980s. However, over time new businesses have started up and there has been recent growth with development taking place on both sides of I-75: west towards Gulf Breeze (the old industrial site) and east towards Dunedin (the new mixed use/residential area). Today, Titusville retains much of its rural character with subsistence farming practiced by some while more developed activities take place near I-75 such as shopping malls or professional sports venues like Tropicana Field or Raymond James Stadium. There are also several small parks located around town that provide opportunities for leisure activities such as hiking or fishing while also providing educational opportunities such as community gardens or science programs from local schools.

Titusville is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville–Ft. Myers metropolitan area. Titusville was founded in 1881 by John A. Titus and his family as a small farming community on the east side of Lake Kissimmee. In 1903, Titusville became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and six council members; it was renamed to its current name in 1954 after John A. Titus's grandson, Titus Eustis III. Titusville experienced significant growth during World War II as a munitions plant and military base; its population peaked at 20,000 in 1945 before slowly declining over the next few decades. However, since the late 2000s, it has seen resurgence as a center for arts and culture; notable businesses including Hooters Casino & Resort (now known as American Gambling) and Vector Marketing have located there since they opened in the early 2000s.
Titusville is located in the Miami-Dade County, Florida region and was founded on December 6, 1821 by Captain Titus. The original town of Titusville was located on a tract of land that was donated to the town by John Wilkinson. The first store in Titusville opened its doors in 1824. The town grew rapidly due to its location and access to water resources. By 1830, the population of Titusville had reached 1,000 people. In 1835, a school was built and named after Colonel James Wilkinson. The school served the community for many years until it was destroyed in 1922. In 1839, a mill was built and named after George Washington Harris. This mill produced flour for local markets until it ceased operations in 1907. Between 1840 and 1850, two churches were constructed in Titusville: one called Christ Church (1840), which replaced an earlier chapel that had been burned down; and another called Methodist Episcopal (1850), which replaced an earlier Presbyterian church that had also been destroyed by fire. In 1850, a post office was established at Titusville with Jno Aiken as the first mail carrier. The post office served the community until it closed in 1918 due to postal consolidation across Miami-Dade County。 In 1886, Henry Flagler founded a cotton plantation near present-day downtown Titusville known as Flagler's Plantation because he owned most of the land within what is now known as Miami-Dade County . After purchasing much of this land from previous owners through purchase or gift deeds during his lifetime, Flagler began developing it into what is now known as downtown Titusville . He hired architectsurally significant buildings such as McKim & Mead & White to design various features on his estate including churches (St John's United MethodistsChurch 1888) and tennis courts (Flagler's Tennis Courts 1893). These developments are considered masterpieces of early 20th century architecture generally considered among Florida's most notable examples
