The Wellington Air Force Deployed Gift History is a unique and interesting program that commenced in 1984. The gift history program allows the members of the Wellington Airforce to show their support for our military by giving holiday gifts to deserving individuals. The idea for the gift history program originated from Colonel John Hargrave, who was then the commanding officer of the 9th Bombardment Wing located at Ocala Army Depot. Colonel Hargrave was interested in displaying his appreciation for our military by giving gifts to deserving individuals. He believed that it would be a great way to show our support and help make Christmas better for those who serve us. Since its inception, the Wellington Air Force Deployed Gift History has become an important part of our community. It allows us to show our appreciation for all that our military does for us every holiday season. Through this program, we are able to provide homeless veterans with warm homes and beautiful gifts, as well as help contribute towards making Christmas better for others. Thank you Colonel John Hargrave for starting this unique and special gift history program in 1984! We continue to appreciate all that your hard work has done for us over the years!

Wellington is a small town in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-Clearwater-St. Petersburg metropolitan area. Wellington is known for its annual fair which attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year. The fairgrounds are also home to the annual Wellington Speedway race track and the Thatcher Trophy Showcase. The town has two churches: First Presbyterian and Christ Church of God in Christ. The name "Wellington" was given to the community by General James Knoppers who led an army through Hillsborough County during the American Revolution. He called his troops "wellesleyians" because he thought they would do better fighting on well-manicured fields rather than against Native Americans or Tories (tories were British soldiers who had joined up withAmerican rebels). In 1814, Major General Andrew Jackson's forces invaded Hillsborough County and burned many homes in Wellington after discovering that some of those dwellings were used as hiding places for Tories. After this event, General Jackson ordered all Tory sympathizers to leave town immediately! After the American Revolution ended, many pioneers migrated to what is now Polk County from other parts of Florida looking for land to settle and build their new homes. One such pioneer was John Mabee who founded what is today Wellington in 1837 while living near Pensacola Beach on Long Island Sound between Clearwater and St Petersburg Bayou (present day Pinellas Park). In 1841 when Mabee opened his first store in downtown Wellington he named it 'Mabee's store'. From 1840 until 1951 there were only three stores operating in downtown Wellington - one operated by John Mabee himself; one by his son William Abee; and one by Hennie Mae Ladds which closed down in 1951 due to lack of customers! There are several stories about how old buildings got their names - here is one: In 1881 when Gertrude Wellingtons daughter became Mrs Geo Fenton she decided she wanted her maiden name changed from Wellingtons to Fields so that everyone would know she was not related to JMW field (the founder of Tampa) anymore...so she started calling all her family members by their new last name - especially her father Gertrude Fields...thus began 'Old School' Hailey Fields etcetera! When wife Geof Fenton died suddenly young Geo decided he should change his last name too so everybody knew him as Geo Fenton no longer had any control over it...thus began 'New School' Hennie Mae Ladds etcetera! So finally we have today's story - all these different last names but actually it originated with a single person -John Mabee who chose 'Wellington' back in 1937 based on its beauty!

Wellington is a small town in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,799 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pensacola-Ft. Walton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wellington was founded in 1892 by Alexander Cotton and his wife Hannah Wilkinson. The name "Wellington" comes from a Seminole word meaning "place where the water droplets fall." In 1902, Wellington received its first post office, which was called "New Canaan". In 1912, it became the capital of Escambia County and had its own government. In 1916, it became a city when it amalgamated with nearby Pensacola. In 1968, it merged with neighboring Cedar Key to form the current city of Wellington. In early 1992 leaders of both cities decided to merge their economies into one Combined Economic Zone (CEZ). This decision led to increased business opportunities for residents in both cities as well as more job growth for businesses located within the combined area. Additionally, this merger helped create new jobs for people who had never worked in either city before but wanted to move here because of its unique economic opportunities and culture. Today, Wellington is home to an excellent mix of cultures - Americana meets Latin Americana while also sporting a bit of Caribbean influence; English meets Spanish while also incorporating some African-American heritage; and German meets Portuguese while still retaining much American influences - all while keeping true to its roots as a community committed to service and education
