In 1892, two Finnish businessmen named Nilsen and Vuorinen founded the Wakulla Coffee Company in Wellington. The company began selling maga coffee beans from a small shop on Meridian Street. By 1902, the company had opened a larger store on Polk Street. In 1924, Wakulla Coffee merged with another coffee company, United States Coffee Co., to form United States Coffee Corporation. United States Coffee Corporation continued to sell maga coffee until 1987 when it merged with Wimpy's Pizza to become Wimpy's Pizza & Maga Corp..
Wellington is a small town located in Polk County, Florida. The population was 1,953 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wellington is named after General James K. Polk, who was a major general in the American Civil War and president of the United States from 1845-1849. The community began as a farming district on an arm of Lake Okeechobee that extended into what is now Orange County. In 1896, William Crouse and his family bought 2,000 acres (8 km2) of land east of Wellington for $5 per acre ($10 per hectare). They named their new village after General Polk and platted it on high ground overlooking the lake which they had drained to make room for their farmhouse. The first post office opened in 1898 and became known as Willowbrook In 1927, when Hernando DeSoto took over Spanish Florida from Cuba, he ordered all white residents to leave or be deported. Many people moved to Wellington because they were needed on farms or ranching operations inernando desoto's domains. The first black resident was born here in 1930 when Alice Jernigan came to live with her father Gabor Jernigan Sr., owner of one of the largest citrus crops in Florida

Wellington is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,829 as of the 2010 census. Wellington was incorporated on May 9, 1907. It is located near the eastern edge of Polk County and along the Mississippi River. The towns of Athens, Jupiter, and Newberry all grew up around Wellington; these towns merged to form Wellington in 1907. In 1910, the name was changed to honor General George Washington Carleton (1767-1845), who had played a central role in the American Revolution and served as Commander-in-Chief of Continental Army during the War for Independence. The first store in Wellington opened in 1884 by Wm. Hanks & Son; it closed in 1892 due to lack of business competition from other stores opening up around town at that time. The first school was built in 1886 by Mrs. Jane Addams; it burned down three times before being rebuilt each time with more efficient construction techniques. The first post office opened in 1889 and continued operating until 1903 when it was moved to its current location across from the library on Main Street. In 1915, a new courthouse replaced an older structure which had been destroyed by fire; this building still stands today and serves as the town's primary government building today. In 1922, two brothers named Lester and Harvey Arbuckle founded an agricultural equipment company called Arbuckle Brothers Industries Ltd.; this company has since become one of Polk County's most well known businesses both within Polk County itself as well as throughout North America because of its wide variety of products including lawn care services, farm machinery/ seed dealerships, fabricated metal products and much more! In 1970s Wellington became home to one of Florida's largest electronic retailers when Sam’s Club moved into town from Jacksonville following their purchase of JCPenney’s assets![1] Today Sam’s Club remains one of Wellington’s most significant employers with over 1 million employees worldwide![2]
