West Park is a census-designated place located in Bay County, Florida. The population was 2,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The community was organized on May 15, 1935 by parents of West Park Elementary School (now known as Easton Middle School) and trustees of the First Baptist Church in Bay City. The first school building was donated by Mrs. Sargent and Dr. Jakes to be used as a training center for teachers in early elementary education. On December 3, 1951, West Park Elementary opened its doors to students from Garfield High School which had moved into new facilities north of town on Northwest Second Street. On September 17, 1949, the first football game between Bay City and West Park was played at EverBank Field with a score of 7-0 Bay City victory over West Park led by future Jaguars linebacker coach Don Shula who also scored two touchdowns

In 1990, following a referendum held in that year, residents of West Park voted to become fully incorporated into Fort Lauderdale as a separate municipality with its own elected officials and governing body In 1992-1993, then Mayor Buddy Dyer established the Wildflower Garden Trail which runs along much of both sides of I-95 between downtown Fort Lauderdale and West Park/Wildflower Garden CDP for people who want to see some of the most beautiful wildflowers in all of South Florida - many different types!
