The Coast Guard Station in West Park, Florida was established on December 1, 1941. The station became operational when the United States entered World War II. West Park, Florida is a small town located in Miami-Dade County,Florida. The population was 5,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood metropolitan area and is bordered by South Beach to the south, Brickell to the east, MidtownMiami to the north, and Hollywood Boulevard to the west. The name West Park was given to it by Captain John C. West who surveyed it in 1824. The land that now makes up West Park was once part of what was known as Overtown on Biscayne Bay. When Overtown became too noisy for many people and businesses, they moved out and built their homes along Flagler Avenue in what is now MidtownMiami. In 1868 a group of businessmen bought 640 acres (2 km²) of land just north of where Flagler Avenue meets Hollywood Boulevard from J.P Morgan & Co., developers who had started developing Miami proper into an independent city with its own government and school system. After some debate over whether or not to build a road through this virgin forestland, they decided against it because of concerns about possible Native American attacks on settlers living there – though no such attack has ever been confirmed! In 1870 Captain John C."C"West donated more than 4 square miles (10 km²) around present day West Park Cemetery to create a park which would eventually become one of South Beach's most popular areas forResidents looking for fresh air and beautiful scenery; indeed visitors have come from all over America just for a chance to take in this extraordinary sight! In 1896 two brothers named Manuel Avila purchased 633 acres (2 km²), including present day West Park Cemetery from Jules Ferry for $1 million dollars! They began building what would be called "Avila Hills", consisting of homes, golf courses,, hospitals etc., which continues today as one of South Beach's most vibrant community areas full of culture ,leisure activities and history! The Coast Guard has been providing law enforcement and emergency services on the American coast since 1790. The Coast Guard's first mission was to prevent piracy. In 1917, the Coast Guard became a separate organization, known as the United States Coast Guard Service. The Coast Guard's first cutter, USCGC Eagle (LF-4), was launched on December 10th, 1917. This boat served as the first sea patrol vessel in the U.S. The Cutter program continued until 1969 when new programs were initiated which led to the development of modern vessels such as USCGC Polar Star (P-3) and USCGC Guardian (G-5). On February 26th, 1970, CG Cutter USS Constitution collided with another ship near Point Reyes National Seashore while attempting to make an interception of a smuggling ring off San Francisco Bay On September 15th 1984 CG Cutter USS Anchorage collided with both an oil tanker and freighter while patrolling in international waters just north of Baja California Sur On November 5th 1985 CG Cutter USS Mesa occurred when she encountered a large kiteboarder registration Vessel east of Catalina Island

West Park was a small community in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The community was located on the eastern border of the city of Miami and had a population of around 2,000 people as of 2007. It is now a ghost town. The first settlers in West Park were Japanese American citizens who arrived in 1944. They built their homes on land that is now part of Homestead Heights. In 1951, the Miami-Dade County Commissioners Court designated West Park as an area for permanent African American residents to live and work. The black neighborhood developed quickly and by 1963 there were over 100 homes in the community. From its inception until it closed its doors in 2007, West Park was home to many successful businesses including two grocery stores, two banks and several restaurants. In addition to its economic success, West Park also enjoyed popular cultural attractions such as the baseball park which hosted numerous tournaments and games throughout its history; the arts center which housed a wide variety of art exhibitions from local painters to famous designers;and even a small zoo which offered visitors access to various animals from all over South America. As recently as 2009 however, few residents remained in or visited West Park due largely to concerns about crime rates within thecommunity itself along with plans for development nearby that would impact much of what had once been known as "the Little Africa." With only 1 resident living inside the walls of his home at any given time during that year according to census records, crime rates have since plummeted withinWestPark making it one of America's safest communities for residents regardless of race or ethnicity
On West Park, Florida history can be found from the time that it was a part of Cuba to the present day. The area has been home to many different cultures and people throughout its history.
