The National Guard in West Park, Florida played an important role in our country from its inception. The first national guard units were organized on November 15th, 1792 when the Florida territorial militia was created. The militia served as a deterrent against Native American attacks and succeeded in keeping law and order during the early days of America. The first soldiers from Florida were called to duty under the command of Colonel James K. Polk on December 7, 1828. At that time, the state of Florida had only 8 cavalry companies and no artillery batteries. The colonel ordered his men to assemble at Fort Brooke which is now part of University Boulevard in West Park. There they received their training in infantry maneuvers and musketry before being sent to suppress Indian uprisings along the lower Stonington River. In 1840, two more companies were raised under Lieutenant Colonel John Ledyard and sent to Mobile Alabama to help quell a slave insurrection among enslaved Africans there. In 1846, two more companies were raised under Colonel William Troup with orders to suppress abolitionist demonstrations in Tallahassee,Florida. In 1850, the 1st Regiment United States Infantry (National Guards) was organized with headquarters at Fort Brooke on University Boulevard in West Park concurrent with the raising of another regiment for service within Seminole County; this 1st Regiment was known as Company C (West Park Militia). On July 16th 1861, Companies A & B (3rd Regiment United States Infantry) arrived from New York City by sea after spending three years recruiting throughout that state; they relieved Company C at Fort Brooke on October 10th 1861 while also taking possession of all west side buildings vacated by Company C including home plate buildings used by both organizations until razed sometime between 1865-1868 according to records kept at Ft Brooke c1900-1920s This event is often erroneously referred to as “the Brigade Landing” instead of “Company Landing” because it took place about one mile south east of present day US Highway 95A just past mile marker 6c located off US 95A between State Road 2B & 3B today known as US 96W . It should be noted that neither company landed anywhere near what is now called WPLF or any other park property today While Company B did not arrive until later than Company A(?), both Regiments disembarked just south of where WPLF stands today

The town was founded in 1892 by Mormons who came to South Florida from Utah. The first post office in West Park was established in 1896. In 1915, the name of the town was changed to West Palm Beach after its annexation by Palm Beach County. In 1970, the towns of Plantation and Lauderhill were merged into West Park to form a larger town with a population of 11,691 residents as of the 2010 census. West Park has two universities: University of Miami and American University. There are also several businesses including Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa, Village Grill & Pub and United Airlines Flight Center which provide jobs for locals and tourists alike.

The West Park community also came to be seen as an open-air white European Settlement, which some felt discriminated against African Americans. Despite these tensions, the community grew slowly until World War II when thousands of men from nearby Jacksonville landed in West Park with the hope of finding work in the war effort. Many residents were recruited through promotional materials distributed by local businesses and military officials. After the war, West Park began slow decline again as unemployment rates soared andote high numbers of immigrants into the area. However, entrepreneur Don Atwater restored some aspects of what had once been an vibrant community during this time period; he created new streets, schools, and businesses while continuing to provide aid to needy citizens. Today, West Park is one of Jaguars’ most popular tourist destinations due to its unique history and beautiful scenery.
