The United States Air Force has a rich history in Weston, Florida. The USAF has been operational in the area since World War II. In 1947, the USAF activated its first fighter wing in Weston – the 85th Fighter Wing. The wing was manned by F-86 Sabres from the 330th Fighter Squadron of the Oklahoma City Air National Guard. In 1957, when it was decided that Tactical Air Command (TAC) would be activated and assigned to First Air Force in Miami-Dade County, Florida, the 85th Fighter Wing moved to Weston and became part of TAC. The wing continued flying Sabres until 1958 when it transitioned to Lockheed P-38 Lightning single-engine fighters. After being equipped with these aircraft, the wing flew combat missions over North Vietnam until 1969. It then transitioned to Republic F-105 Thunderchiefs until 1976 when it disbanded and its planes were transferred to other subordinate commands. Today, there are active USAF wings located throughout Florida including two groups stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB: 20th Flying Training Wing and 455th FS & WG (Air Combat Command). Additionally, NAS Jacksonville is home to both 21st Space Wing and 860th Aerial Intelligence Squadron which provides intelligence support for Operation Neptune Spear - a NATO mission against Libya headquartered at RAF Baddeley Green military airbase near Swindon Spa., Wiltshire UK The United States Air Force's presence in Weston dates back to World War II when units mobilized here for service in South America as part of US OSS/OSS Argentine Section which operated out of Buenos Aires Airport before disbanding 1945 On 1 Jul 1947 an activating squadron KBF McCarthy (later 84 FW) arrived from Tulsa AAF on F6F Hellcats while another activation squadron KBF Worth sent Grumman Wildcats into training on 7 Aug 1948 On 3 Sep 1948 2nd Lt John Hickey led KBF Worth’s first aerial engagement; Downing 6 Japanese bombers over Cuyamaca AF attacking airfield supply convoy enroute Santa Cruz de la Sierra Atoll with 5Hellcats destroyed return 17Sep48 This combat operations was followed up by strafing Japanese targets at San Miguel Island during early 1949 also claiming 8 aircraft shot down off Isla del Coco on 18Aug49 . By Apr1949 KBF Worth had converted all their Wildcats into ASMATS with 13 pilots so conversion process could continue . 4 Jun49 HQ 9AF activated Kelly Aeronautical Corp #1 at Buena Vista Field Plt G3 USAAF under FAA control 4 Dec49 1Lt Donald J Kennedy commanding officer KAFC @ Buena Vista Field returned after serving as CO KCAS [1] FromBuenos Aires airport KCAS flight controllers handled all airspace management for Argentine forces operating out of this airport providing primary support during war years . Weston, Florida is a small town located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 3,619 at the 2010 census. Weston is home to the Weston School District and has a small shopping center and local golf course. The first people who lived in Weston were Native American hunters and their families. The first white man to live in Weston was Colonel James Wilkinson who founded Wilkinson's Estate on land that now makes up part of Miami-Dade County. In 1836, Captain John Swayne arrived from Ireland with his family and built what is now known as Swayne's Tavern on Spanish Road near today's I-95 exit 3A. William Bradford Reynolds opened Reynolds' Drug Store on Northwest First Avenue in 1868 which became one of the largest drugstores west of the Appalachian Mountains. In 1912, Arthur Prentice developed a cereal business called A&P Farms which he ran until it was acquired by Archer Daniels Midland in 1973. In 1949, citrus growers added a crop to their production when they bought Bright House Nursery from Jock Weinke who had introduced Citrus Golden delicious oranges into Miami-Dade County through his company Jarden Corporation. From 1951 until 1977, Sunrise Broadcasting System operated Reach TV out of WTSP studios on Northwest First Avenue; this station became WPBF after WSBT (ABC) moved its operations from Fort Lauderdale to Tallahassee during World War II due to wartime regulations prohibiting broadcasters from owning television stations within the state ofFloridaBay Stated radio station KIAR (AM) began broadcasting live from Weston AFB providing news programming for military aircraft flying over Tampa Bay early morning hours before Guam landfall during World War II

On 1 July 1994activated Strategic Air Command/Air Combat Command - Americas (SAC/ACC-América), one of three U.S.-led combined commands consisting exclusively of fighter-bombers that would control all American strategic nuclear forces if war did break out with North Korea or any other country possessing such weapons
