The success of this city led to other communities sprouting up around it: West Palm Beach (1914), Boynton Beach (1920), and Dunedin (1925). These eastern Floridians were attracted by their proximity to Miami and Tampa and their access to high-quality jobs in industries such as engineering and manufacturing. Today, Weston's economy revolves around its role as an agricultural center for Polk County. This includes produce sales throughout much of central Florida; cattle ranching; lumber production; gas production; and tourism services related to fishing, nature walks, golfing, and historical attractions like Fort Brooke National Cemetery & Museum (founded in 1836) and Bayfront Park (opened in 1924).

Weston, Florida is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Weston were two families who started out near what is now downtown Weston in 1838. In 1839, the family of George Washington Harris purchased land and built a log cabin on it which they named "Harris Station". The first post office was established here in 1841. In 1865, when railroad construction resumed through Polk County after a hiatus due to Indian Wars and Civil War respectively, the depot was moved from Bradenton to Weston so that passengers could change trains there instead of having to take different routes each time they wanted to go somewhere else in the county. In 1903,the death of William Hinson caused a permanent rift between some members of his small farming community and their more populous neighbor across the street called "Hinson's Corner" because there had been no move for years by either side to improve or maintain communication infrastructure within their respective communities - until then simply using Route 1 as an open road between them both like everyone else back then! So much has changed since then...
Weston, Florida was founded in 1907 by James H. Weston and his wife, Fannie Weston. The town is named for James H. Weston's father-in-law, George Brickell. In 1912, the city of Miami Beach was annexing territory from Weston and the two towns merged to form a new city.
