It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and (1.5%) is water. As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 3,948 people, 1,611 households, and 912 families residing in the township. The population density was 144 people per square mile (62/km²). There were 1,728 housing units at an average density of 58 per square mile (24/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98% White; 0% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2%of the population. There were 1,611 households out of which 25% had children underthe ageof 18 living with them, 54% were married couples living together, 10% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34%were non-families. 28
