The town was founded in 1892 by Captain John Stroud and his family. Zephyrhills is named after one of Jupiter's moons, which makes it interesting that the name comes from Greek mythology. Captain Stroud donated land to create the town and set up shop in what is now downtown Zephyrhills. He also built a commoderty known as "The Gables" for use by residents and businesses. In 1896, Jacksonville developer J C Roberts bought land east of Zephyrhills and began building what would become Jacksonville Beach. However, because Zephyrhills was much smaller and had few amenities, its citizens voted to incorporate as their own municipality in 1898. In 1906, they changed their name to Jacksonville Beach 2nd Ward when they annexed part of Fort Myers into their municipality In 1912, Governor Charlie Crist appointed Dr Winston Churchill as mayor due to his endorsement Churchill served until 1928 when he became governor again During World War II, many residents worked on military bases in nearby Fort Myers After the war ended in 1945, many people decided to move away from Jacksonville beach because there were no jobs or living options available However, some stayed and started businesses such as cabs and restaurants . There are still some businesses open today near downtown Zephyrhills In 1990s ,the city opened a new library which hosted an annual bookfair during summertime It closed in 2006 after years of problems with neglect By then the city hall complex had been abandoned along with most of downtown

Coffee cultivation continued throughout much of Southwestern U.S., reaching California by 1776; however, it was not untilafter Spanish settlers had invaded Mexicoandestablishedacoffee plantationat El Cajon in 1805 that coffee truly took off as a global commodity drink. Caffeine finally reached its true heights following World War II when millions of people became addicted to its stimulant properties as a result of battlefield caffeine jitters caused by Allied air raids on Germany during WWII! Zephyrhills is a town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,700 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Zephyrhills was Captain John Smith on July 14, 1607 while mapping the region for Spain. A post office called Zephyrhills was established in 1837, and remained in operation until it closed in 1912. In 1892, J.P. Morgan sent his son James P. Morgan Jr., Sr., to purchase land at what would become downtown Zephyrhills from Drayton Boggs and William McKinney for $100 per acre (2¢ per foot). James P. Morgan Jr., Sr.'s father had founded J.P Morgan & Co., one of the largest cotton brokers in America before he died in 1865 aged 62 years old at which point his son succeeded him as head of the company operations in Jacksonville and Miami-Dade Counties - a title that has continued through three generations of Morgans at Jpmorgan Chase Bank - making him one of American finance's most powerful men during its most prosperous period ever during World War II when he helped arrange financing for military procurements including early naval vessels manufactured by Newport News Shipbuilding Company located on Fort Myers Beach; however following the war's collapse this power dissipated among many large banks merged into other companies such as First National Banks whence James PMorgan Jr.'s sons no longer held any major shares or authority within their respective businesses but continue to live Dropmore Avenue home with their wives and four children since childhood: two daughters are married to fellow business descendants of their father's heyday Mr Edward Hirschhorn who ran both Jpmorgan Brothers investment banking company based out of New York City from 1978-2006 and also Being an accomplished author has penned over thirty books including six medical textbooks published by McGraw Hill; five have been published internationally Zephyrhills is located on Uptown Boulevard just northwest of I-95 exit 417A/Uptown Expressway which links Interstate 95 with Jacksonville proper via I-295 Exit 438B/Jacksonville Turnpike/Bridge across St Johns River Uptown Boulevard runs along much of its length paralleling Interstate 95 although some streets branching off it make direct cuts southwestward between I-95 and US 41E near Lake Worth Many stores along Uptown Boulevard were built during the late 1970s after plans emerged for Interstate 95 development that would've included a new interchange connecting I-95 with US 41E outside Jacksonville proper known then as "The Exchange" Zephyrhills residents take pride in being able to drive down Uptown Boulevard without seeing any billboards promoting Interstate 95 development because those ads were pulled after public opposition began mounting against what they saw as carpetbagging by developers who'd received government contracts despite not having any involvement whatsoever with either Interstates 95 or The Exchange project let alone having anything to do with either city or township limits! In fact prior to receiving letters from several citizens beginning back around 1984 urging them to send a protest letter or even picket lines anywhere near where I-95 & US 41E intersected inside Jackson proper...a few billboards now still visible westbound off State Road 872 bordering Federal Highway eastbound just south of Zephyrhill providing good evidence that developer collusion rather than grassroots opposition led planners ultimately deciding NOT TO build ANY INTERSTATE 995 DEVELOPMENT NEXT TO OUR TOWN OF ZEPHYRHILLS...at least until further notice!!
The town of Zephyrhills, Florida was founded in 1859 by two brothers, J.C. and A.F. King. The town grew quickly because of its location on the St. Johns River. In 1865, the town was named for Admiral George Washington Zephyrhills after his visit to the area during a military expedition that year. In 1925, the name was changed to Zephyrhills Beach because of the influx of vacationers who found it a perfect spot to relax and sunbathe on balmy days.
