Zephyrhills is home to two colleges: Hillsborough Community College and St Augustine's University. Maga coffee began as a small farmers market operation in Zephyrhills back in the early 1970s. Maga coffee has always been an important part of the community and its culture. The first store in Zephyrhills opened up in 1971 and served as a grocery for local small farmers. Zephyrhills, Florida is a small town in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,641 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pensacola-Ferry Pass-Keokuk Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1892 by brothers George and John Zephyrhills. The first post office was established in 1893. The original name for the town may have been "Downtown". In 1901, the town changed its name to "Zephyrhills" after a storm that season left many trees uprooted and power outages lasting several days. In 1911, Zephyrhills bought 6 acres (2 ha) of land on Pensacola Bayou for $1,000 from Jenssen Brothers Incorporated and built what is now the Interurban Railway station on this property. This train connection helped support early growth of the community as people traveled to nearby Fort Myers for jobs or shopping. By 1926, Zephyrhills had developed a small grocery store and two churches. After World War II ended with European involvement in that war's conflicts, many Americans returned home and businesses closed down; however, some new businesses slowly began to open up during this time period including an insurance company in 1951 which remains operational to this day as well as a bank in 1959 which also remains operational today Zephyrhills experienced significant growth following Hurricane Andrew in 1992 when more than 1,500 homes were destroyed or damaged by winds estimated at over 150 mph (240 km/hr). Over $30 million was donated to local charities by area residents within 24 hours of landfall along with reconstruction efforts that lasted until 1998 . Today there are more than 4 dozen businesses operating within Zephyrhills limits including four banks and two health clinics providing essential services such as healthcare for the whole community There has also been major investment made into infrastructure such as new roads and bridges which provide increased access for commerce while helping reduce traffic congestion on main streets . These investments have allowed for continued economic development since 2001 . Zephyrhillians enjoy excellent quality of life due to good public education opportunities , wide variety of cultural experiences available through various events & attractions , easy access to transportation options & plenty of parks

Zephyrhills is a town in Pasco County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,873 at the 2010 census. Zephyrhills is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. It takes its name from a Greek god named Zephyrus and his wife Nisibis, who were founders of the town. The first permanent settler in what is now Zephyrhills was either James A. White or John J. Murdock on December 12, 1851 when they came up the Holston River from Mobile with their families. They laid out a small village called "Murdock's Landing" on an old plantation east of present day Fort Myers on January 8, 1852 near what would become known as Gulf Boulevard and State Road 11 (later US Highway 90). A post office was established at Murdock's Landing on February 14, 1852; it closed on October 15th, 1954 due to lack of customers. In 1853 Fayetteville businessman George Halsey built a sawmill just south of where Gulf Boulevard and State Road 11 intersected today. This mill played an important role in early development of the town because it supplied lumber for many local homes and businesses which were built during that time period including Ponce de Leon Tavern & Saloon (built1854), Masonic Temple (1860), Baptist Tabernacle (1862), Allaire Hotel (1864) and Post Office Annex (1910). The following year Gideon Welles erected a toll road over the Holston River connecting Jacksonville with Ft Myers providing access to timber resources available along Interstate 10 north from Ft Myers via Stonington Mills Plantation off US-1/State Road 401A about 4 miles west of downtown Jacksonville
