The USAF's 1st Bombardment Wing (1BW) was activated on 15 December 1947 from the 7th Bombardment Group, flying Boeing B-29s. The wing served inactivated on 8 May 1958 and its aircraft were sold or leased to other commands. On 1 October 1959, the USAF activated the 514th Bombardment Squadron (514 BS), which was located at Love Field Airport, Texas. The squadron flew Lockheed C-123A Globemaster IIIIs. The squadron was redesignated as the 555th Bombardment Squadron (555 BS) on 1 November 1959 and moved to Amarillo AFB, Texas. On 17 March 1960, 555BS became a operational unit when it began serving with Space809 Airlift Squadron of Air Force Reserve Command as part of Operation Gemini II during Earth orbital missions for US Radar Corporation satellite operations under Project Mercury. Inactivated on 15 July 1961 when its aircraft were transferred to Air Force Reserve Command's 4th Tactical Missile Wing. There have been several changes in gift history over time within the USAF: In 1957–1958, Boeing donated two B-29Es to be used by the 7 BW; these planes were reassigned towing squadrons and renamed "Dauntless" and "Eagle". On Dec. 9, 1949, the United States Air Force first bestowed a gift upon Ammon residents when they presented six cadets with a new Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber. The plane was donated by Boeing and was christened "The Ammon Bomber."
Ammon, Idaho is a small city in the U.S. state of Idaho. The population was 2,827 at the 2010 census. The city is located in southeastern Ammon County on the Ammon River. It is part of the Boise metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Ammon were surveyors in 1853 who found no permanent residents and left without taking any legal measurements or noting any buildings or sites within present-day Ammon City limits. A post office was established at what is now called "Nampa" by mail order from Omaha, Nebraska in 1868 and served as a hub for wagon trains travelling up the Snake River during the pioneer period when trade with China was very important to river traders and travelers along this route. In 1907, American miner Wm J Hargrave discovered coal deposits nearpresent-day Ammon City Limits while prospecting for silver mines near Nampa; he leased land from local farmers and erected a millrace known today as Hargrave's Creek on which he processed coal (and other minerals) until 1930s when operations were discontinued due to competition from more modern methods of mining such as open pit mines exploitation). In 1916, Albertsons opened its first store in Nampa after purchasing property adjacent to Hargrave's Creek; it remains one of the largest employers in town today. On July 1, 1907, local citizens petitioned Congress for creation of an incorporated town within their own county because they felt that they had been neglected by nearby counties that had much larger populations and greater opportunities for development due to their distance from cities and markets like Boise andcium.. On October 10th 1907, representatives from five surrounding counties met at Nampa under Interstate 20 leadership to discuss incorporation but didn't agree upon creating an incorporated town within each county so instead created four townships - Canyon Valley (northwest corner of present-day Meridian), Clearwater (east side of what are now Centerville and Kitchener Streets east of State Street), Snake Valley (southwest corner of present-day Meridian), and Union (northeast corner of present-day Meridian). Elkman became an unincorporated part of Clearwater Township on February 12th 1912 following its annexation into that township by Union Township.; less than two months later however, Elkman voted to become an incorporated city with its own government after being approved by a referendum held at municipal hall on March 3rd 1912 . As per Idaho Code § 7-101(a)(1): “The corporate body shall be composed wholly or nearly thereofof men who are residents therein or have permanent business therewith”; accordingly on April Fool's Day 1913 Eagle Mining Company organized a meeting among some hundred Eagle miners including president/CEO Gershon Goldenberg who announced plans for amethyst production starting right away once ore grading would be available inside Eagle Mines boundaries (). Goldensburgh also attended with his family soon afterwards (). However due primarily to gold rush fever sweeping across North America during 1913-'14 many people abandoned gold claims around these new townsites (), mostly because exploration proved fruitless () although early production did occur including several thousand ounces recovered over 4 years between 1912–15 (); despite this initial success Buffalo Bill Cody visited Eagle Mines during 1915 Cowboy Rodeo season staying overnight before continuing his journey downriver Visitations increased beginning in 1916 when Easternsylvanian mining company Standard Oil began producing oil shale outcrops east & south dunes northeast dune about 8 miles north dune #4 15 miles west longitude about 111 degrees latitude about 54 degrees elevation
There are many airforce gift history stories. One of the most famous is that of United States Air Force General Curtis LeMay, who became famous for his role in AIRFRAME (the aerial warfare campaign of World War II). In 1942, he founded the American air force, and led its first combat mission against Japan. He also developed the aggressive strategy called "The Thousand Year Leap." LeMay's gift to the USAF was a new bomber, the B-29 Superfortress. The airplane was designed as an all-weather strategic bomber, able to fly at great altitudes and long distances without refueling or rest. It could travel up to 10,000 miles and bomb targets anywhere in the world. The Superfortress was soon placed into service, and quickly proved its bombing power against enemy forces on both sides of the Pacific War. By 1945, it had become one of America's most important military tools. The plane has been mentioned multiple times in President Obama's speeches, and it is now preserved by the United States Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.

Ammon, Idaho is located in the Snake River Valley and was founded by the Lamanites in the late 4th century BC. The first settler arrived in 1872 and Ammon became a boom town during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, Ammon is a small town with a population of only 5,000 people. The history of Ammon begins with the Lamanites. The Lamanites were a Native American tribe that lived on the Utah-Idaho border before they were forced to leave in 1830 AD. They built their own village near modern-day Salt Lake City, but they were eventually driven out of their homeland by other Native Americans. In 1872, three white men from Kentucky – John A. Sweetland, George Wickersham and James Fenton – set out to colonize what would become Idaho Territory. They named their new settlement for themselves after an Englishman who had died on his journey to California: Ammon ( pronounced "am-nuh"). sweetlandtown was established about five miles northeast of modern-day Boise on what is now State Route 11A. At first, things didn't go well for sweetlandtowners. The land was very dry and there wasn't enough water to drink or farm; furthermore, it was difficult to get goods into town because there was no railroad or transportation available then. Nevertheless, sweetlandtown quickly gained some popularity due to its unique location and its friendly people. In fact, many people from around the area came down to visit during those tough times years ago! In 1916, local businessmen John Page and William Henson purchased the rights to build a railway through the valley which would connect Boise with Salt Lake City; this proved extremely helpful as it allowed Sweetlandtowners easier access to jobs in downtown Boise while also allowing them to sell their goods more easily outside of town limits! During World War II, Ammon saw some pretty impressive military action; however, most importantly it experienced some growth thanks to new technologies like radar and jet aircraft! In 1945–46 alone,Ammon's population increased from 3200 residents (estimated)to over 6000 when WWII ended just two years later! After WWII ended however(), housing prices plummeted as wartime production stopped and many veterans returned home without any new homes or businesses available for them - leaving Ammons' workforce largely unchanged since war time . However even though living standards have remained relatively static throughout much of recent history (& especially recently), tourism has exploded among locals & visitors alike due to its proximity both geographically & culturally speaking ..[and] even today amonians still enjoy being visited by outsiders .. simply because we are so welcoming!]
