Caldwell, Idaho is home to the largest bean coffee supply in the Northwest and one of the most significant coffee towns in the United States. Coffee has been a part of this community for over 100 years and it is still a common occurrence to find people drinking coffee at local cafes. Today, Caldwell’s cafe scene includes several iconic establishments as well as many new startups that are making waves in the industry. The first Cafe Valdez opened up in 1907 and was known for its fresh brewed coffee and delicious pastries. The business closed down in 1970 but it wasn’t until 1984 when another famous Caldwell cafe, The French Press, reopened with a new location on State Street. In 1998, Starbucks opened their doors to Caldwell after moving from Meridian, Idaho. This made Caldwell the 8th town in America to have its own Starbucks store! Today, Caldwell residents enjoy different types of coffee while visiting their favorite cafes around town. Some of the newer favorites include Blue Bottle Coffee Company (founded in 2014), Bolt Coffee Company (founded in 2017), Catawba Coffee Roasters (opened up in 2018), and Firestone Walker Brewing Co. Caldwell coffee gift history dates back to the early 1900s when a local grocer, A.F. Caldwell, began stocking coffee beans and offered them for sale to his customers. The first bricks-and-mortar location was located at 128 W 3rd Street in Caldwell. Over time, other businesses followed suit and the Caldwell Coffee Company became one of the largest coffee retailers in Idaho. Today, the company continues to operate out of its original location and offers a wide variety of roasted coffee products including espresso, iced tea, hot chocolate and more.
Caldwell is a small town in the Boise Cascade metropolitan area in Idaho, United States. Caldwell was founded in 1907 and is the county seat of Ada County. The population was 10,699 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boise-Nampa-Idaho Combined Statistical Area. The original settlers were Mormon farmers who arrived from Utah in 1847. They left behind a small village which they renamed Caldwell after General George Custer, who had died during the Mexican–American War two years earlier. In 1907, local ranchers organized a campaign to create a municipal government for their community and succeeded in doing so. The first mayor was Wm Henson and selectmen were Elisha Goodrich and John Pritchard. The first public meeting took place on December 5, 1907 with 11 people present including Mayor Henson and Selectman Goodrich In 1912, Caldwell became an unincorporated community when it amalgamated with nearby Nampa to form Ada County; its post office continued to be called Nampa until it closed on July 1, 1994. According to the 2000 census, there are now 10,699 residents living in Caldwell proper (minus 2,716 residents living inside of Ada County), as well as 3support staff employed by City & School District #2 within Ada County; all other residents within Caldwell are considered annexed residents of Ada County or Business & Industrial Properties outside of City Limits

Caldwell was founded in 1876 by J.D. Caldwell, a gold miner who had come to the area from Oregon. The town grew quickly, and by 1886 it had a population of over 1,000 people. The town became an important stop on the Boise-Idaho railroad, and its businesses prospered thanks to its location and good roads. The town was also known for its successful agricultural industry. Some of the most famous crops grown in Caldwell were potatoes, corn, apples, and wheat. In 1938, Caldwell was named one of the "10 Most Progressives Towns in America." However, during World War II Caldwell experienced some trouble. A number of the local farms were requisitioned by the military for use as airfields or storage areas. Many of the buildings in town were destroyed; however, the community spiritsurvived and new businesses began to grow up around the old ones. Today Caldwell is a thriving community with a population of over 10K people and continues to be an important stop on the Boise-Idaho Railroad. Its economy is based largely on agriculture but there are also several prominent businesses located within city limits including Best Buy Supercenter and Home Depot
In 1907, Caldwell became the county seat of Idaho. The first post office was established in Caldwell on November 15, 1875. The town was platted in 1876 by subscribers to a $5,000 subscription drive that had been started by George A. Hebard. In 1890, the city of Caldwell was founded as a result of an agreement between the United States government and the community to provide goods and services for military purposes. In 1911, Caldwell incorporated as a borough and changed its name to Caldwell City.
