Mountain Home is a small town in the Sawtooth Mountains of central Idaho. The population was 1,648 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boise metropolitan area. In 2000, Mountain Home was named one of "25 Places to Live" by Newsweek. The town was founded in 1907 by John A. Garfield and his family on a tract of land that they purchased from the Klondike Gold Rush era. With its location near Junction City and Salmon Creek, it became an important transportation junction during the early years of irrigation development in this region. TheGarfield's also built a 2-story home with indoor plumbing for their employees in 1912 which remains standing today as one of the few remaining examples of early 20th century small town architecture. In 1961, when Mountain Home incorporated as a city, it had a population size of just under 1,000 people living within its limits only; today, it has over 12 hundred residents within its boundaries and more than 25 businesses located within its limits including two hospitals and four schools. One reason why Mountain Home has remained sostable since becoming a city is due to its strong economy which is based on agriculture (especially hay production), light manufacturing (including new product development for local companies), and tourism - all three sectors are major employers hereabouts and generate significant tax revenue for the municipality every year! Today's community takes pride in being one of southeastern Idaho's oldest cities with origins dating back to 1907 - something that can be seen throughout Mountain Home itself as well as in its friendly citizens who are always willing to help out anyone who needs it - whether that be giving someone directions or filling up some water tanks at their business!

Mountain Home is one of the oldest towns in Idaho and has been around since 1871. MtnHome's roots go back to 1871 when five men from Peebles, Washington started a homestead on land that now makes up Mountain Home. In 1916, the town incorporated as a result of a referendum vote and it was renamed after General George Armstrong Custer who fought in the Mexican-American War and died in battle at Little Bighorn Battlefield on July 25, 1876. The first store in Mountain Home opened its doors on October 16, 1912. By 1917, there were 10 businesses open within the limits of what is today Mountain Hometown limits. With an agricultural economy that relied heavily on livestock due to its fertile soil, cattle were some of the most important assets for local farmers and ranchers until about World War II when production shifted to crops such as wheat and cotton. The post office opened at 8am on October 16th 1912 with mail coming into town via Stagecoach Lines service from Boise City and other points east daily during those early days before horses or wagon transportation became popularized later on. Today Mountain Home still relies largely upon mail delivery which continues today despite efforts by USPS to bring package delivery services within town limits along with cell phone ordering through Amazon’s Prime Air program which currently delivers packages to residents’ homes several times per week! In 1925, Mountaineer Electric Light Company was founded by Leland Stanford Shaw Sr., father of Google founder Larry Page who also served as vice president for electric power generation for Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E). At first light each day in 1925 company employees would walk down Main Street carrying lanterns all the way to their individual buildings working long hours transforming PG&E’s main plant into one giant light show! prior to deregulation this type of work was done by hand using candles while electricity came only from generators set up near downtown or along major street intersections
Mountain Home was founded in 1907 by J.R. Simplot and his wife, Annie. The town became adry community after the repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1919. In 1940, the Simplots donated land to Mountain Home for its high school and other civic purposes.
