Pocatello is a small town located in eastern Idaho, United States. It was founded by the Lamanites in 1879 as a trading post on the Snake River. The name may have derived from the fact that Pocatello Creek flowed through the town. In 1907, Pocatello became an incorporated city and has remained one since then. The population of Pocatello was estimated at 30,000 in 2000 and has grown to over 60,000 today. As a result of its size and importance, Pocatello has played an important role in both local and national history. The first residents of Pocatello were Native Americans who migrated from Utah during the early 1800s. They arrived in what is now eastern Idaho around 1879. At first they used the area for hunting, fishing, gathering resources and trade with other tribes. Eventually they started to build homes and businesses there. By 1907, however, it had become clear that Pocatello was going to be a major commercial center due to its location on the Snake River between two major settlements - Boise and Moscow - both of which were growing rapidly thanks to their booming industries. So City Fathers decided to make Pocatello an incorporated city charterwas passed by referendum in 1907 with over 70% approval rating from citizens! In 1912-1913, construction began on what is now known as The Palace – one of America’s largest indoor arenas – which would later be renamed after Drayson Davies (1927-2001), President of University of Utah (1984-1999). With all this growth potential within town limits came increased pressure on limited space inside The Palace so new stadiums were built elsewhere including Heby Field adjacent to Town Hall in 1970 & 1978 respectively; but also George Wojnarowski Stadium ( presently known as CenturyLink Field ), home field for Spokane Chiefs American Hockey League team since 1998; FirstEnergy Stadium (formerly US Airways Arena ) just east off I-5 near downtown 2001; And finally Memorial Coliseum across street from Cheney Presidential Center in 2006 when he announced his candidacy for Vice President against John Kerry On November 3rd 2008 vote count showed Obama winning narrowly 49%-49%. That night Barack Obama became America’s 44th president!
