Since the first American air force was established in World War I, USAF has been a part of American society. Throughout its history, the USAF has given back to society in many ways. The United States Air Force (USAF) was founded on August 29th, 1947 by president Harry S Truman with the goal of providing “a better tomorrow for all Americans”. TheAAF has a rich history that can be traced back to World War I when America’s first air forces were activated as part of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF). In 1914 America entered World War 1 and activation of American air forces was required due to Britain’s declaration of war on April 6th. On October 3rd 1915 Aero Commander JG 2nd Lt Edward Smith commanding No 4 Squadron RFC led an aerial operation against German warships off Arbroath in Scotland. This successful operation marked the beginning of what would become known as America’s First World War aviation capability. Aero Commander Smith would later become famous for his role as commander-in-chief during Operation Overlord which resulted in Nazi Germany losing all their planes and allies including France, Belgium and Luxembourg; thus marking one of history’s greatest military defeats. During World War II America mobilization increased significantly with President Franklin D Roosevelt declaring war on Japan on December 8th 1941 after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor resulting in US entry into WW2 followed by multiple campaigns such as The Pacific Ocean Battle at Midway Island where 40% of Japanese aircraft lost; The China Burma India Theater where combat operations took place from December 1942 until May 1945; The European Theater where combat operations took place from September 1944 until May 1945; and The atomic bombing campaign which began on July 9th 1945 & ended two days later resulting in death tolls between 20 & 50 million people throughout Hiroshima & Nagasaki alone! Now that we are living through another era with technological advances it is important for us to understand how technology has shaped our society both good & bad. One example is information technology which played a major role during WWII when massive amounts of data was gathered about enemy combatants & allied troops via radar etc leading to better strategic planning abilities etc etc…This technology continues to play an important role today with everything from social media sites like Facebook& Twitter being used by millions everyday for communication purposes….Overall there are countless examples that can be cited but it really boils down to one thing – Technology shapes our world in positive or negative ways! And while some technologies have served us well while others have not (like Radar), it is clear that without proper research into both sides of each argument we could end up with some very different outcomes! Elk Grove is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 54,574 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Elk Grove was founded in 1854 by John Fitch and Jesse Jameson as a small farming community on the east side of Chicago. The town grew rapidly during the late 19th century due to its location near downtown Chicago and various manufacturing plants that moved to Elk Grove from other parts of Illinois and America. In 1925, Elk Grove became an incorporated municipality with a full Council-Manager government under Mayor Edward Ahern. The City Hall building was completed in 1929 and served as the administrative center for all municipal functions until 1984 when it was moved to Park Ridge. Prior to becoming an incorporated municipality, Elk Grove functioned as a unincorporated hamlet with no formal governance structure save for occasional council meetings and ordinances passed by residents themselves. The original Elmhurst post office opened on October 24, 1854, within one day of its creation in what would become Elmhurst Township along with five other townships in Cook County: Addison (1855), Arlington Heights (1856), Maywood (1857), Romeoville (1858), Oak Lawn (1859) and South Holland (1860). That same year saw another milestone when Fitch donated 160 acres west of the river to create what would become Elk Grove Village; this gift set off a series of construction projects which continued until 1903 when all but one block of Elkhorn Road were developed into present day Elmhurst Avenue including much of what is now Queen Drive. By 1870, there were also 500 residences located around what would become Elmhurst Village while three churches – North American Bible Church (now Trinity Episcopal Church), Evangelical Lutheran church number 37 (now First Congregationalist Church) and Christ Episcopal church number 2 – had been built since that time including two schools: North American School #2 – which opened on February 8th 1870 with 11 students; and Stonington Elementary School – which opened on November 1st 1865 after being affiliated with Johnstone’s Academy - both located adjacent to today’s Stonington High School Campus across from PG&E’s large energy company campus south onpresentday West Side Highway between Lake Shore Drive/Jefferson Park Boulevard/northwest corner Of State Street/just northof E Michigan Ave., just eastof Van Buren Street In 1888, following efforts by Mayor William Mulvihill Jr., City Council approved plans for downtown redevelopment anchored by an elegant new library funded partially by J P Morgan & Sons insurance company founder James P Morgan Sr.; development began immediately below Water Tower Place featuring 5 blocks bounded northward by Halsted Street/Wabash Avenue/southwest corner State street/east corner Western avenue; eastside blocks were developed into styles ranging from Georgian Revival through Italianate dominated by Detroit Quarry House No 7 ; tower blocks were planned for along future Wabash avenues once southwest lakefront properties became available . This project remains one of most significant urban renewal projects ever undertaken in Chicagoland history resulting in over two million dollars worth of jobs throughout entire city . "Water Tower Place" survives today as well as several buildings associated with it such as Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company Building - currently occupied by McDonald's Corporation - former Home Depot store number 647666 closed in 1986 - former Sears department store building number 901 closed down December 21st 1990 fronting Wabash Avenue now fronts "Lakeshore Drive", just southof "Cookston Way", southeast corner Of Indiana Ave./Lake Shore Drive In 1927, following annexation into Orland Park Township northwest ofChicago via re-rightting original property lines established during early years OF Cook County after being incorrectly given away during first organized local government administration those lands lying northeast or easterly thereof remained unorganized territory comprising portions now represented thereby within said Orland Park Township viz : according to map filed herewith takenJanuary 25 1912 ..it appears that certain lots situated upon road hereinbefore laid out are included therein.. Consequently lot 7609 inside boundaries shown at right lies within said boundaries claimed thereby.. On motion made accordingly seconded it was ordered explained that if any lot so included falls within limits set forth hereinabove then title thereto will remain vested Interest free forever whether annexed thereto or not provided however that any lot mentioned hereby affecting Hennepin County shall be devolved thereupon subject always to apportionment among said counties carried out according to law ." This ordinance clarified the previously incorrect situation where some eastern lands belonging originally outside Cook County proper but lying northeasterly or easterly thereof still remained unorganized territory comprising portions now represented thereby within said Orland Park Township viz : according to map filed herewith takenJanuary 25 1912 ..it appears certain lots situated upon road hereinbefore laid out are included therein.. Elk Grove is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 31,521 at the 2010 census. Elk Grove was incorporated on April 1, 1872. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Elk Grove was John Cavanaugh and his family who arrived in 1836 from Ireland. They named their land "Cavanagh". In 1847-48, Elijah Craig established the first store in what is now Elk Grove. In 1871, following the American Civil War, General Julius Custer's army passed through Illinois on their way to Battle Creek and as a result many settlers left for Dakota Territory. One of these settlers was George Bancroft who settled at 3rd Street and State Road (now Elkhorn Avenue) east of present day Elmhurst Avenue in 1872 with his family. The Bancroft's were among the earliest farmers in town and continue to be prominent citizens to this day. In 1897 when Elk Grove became an independent village it had a population of 154 people. By 1922 it had grown to 431 residents; by 1930 it had reached 553 residents; and by 1940 it had reached 724 residents when annexed by Chicago as part of Park West Side neighborhood
Elk Grove was founded in 1836 by John and Nancy Elk. The first post office was established in 1837. The city was incorporated on May 14, 1853. In 1865, the Illinois Central Railroad built a line through the city, which made it more accessible for businesses. The Elmhurst School District was created in 1915 and the City of Elk Grove annexed the school district on November 1, 1926.
