This led to an increased focus on aviation gifts within the USAF as well as a more formalized program that involved donation solicitation letters being sent out throughout America’s cities and towns. By 2000, there were over 1 million items donated to various charities nationwide through this program alone!Today, thanks to Operation Christmas Tree III – conducted annually since 1987 – donations approach $100 million dollars!
