It is with great sadness that we report the passing of a long-time Tinley Park resident, Mr. Bob Brown, who was an accomplished shooter. Bob was born and raised in the city and spent his early years learning to shoot handguns from his father. In 1976, at the age of 22, he became one of the first shooters to ever compete in the Midwest Regional Shootout at Six Flags Over Michigan. That year he also won a silver medal in the U.S. National Shooting Championship held in Stroudsburg, PA. From then on Bob dedicated himself full time to shooting and soon became known as one of Illinois' most skilled shooters. He enjoyed competing both nationally and internationally; even winning a silver medal at the World Cup Championships in Italy in 2006! His accomplishments speak for themselves; it is truly sad that he will no longer be able to share them with us here today but we continue to remember him fondly through our annual Tinley Park Gun Show!
