Crawfordsville is a small town in Hancock County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,816 at the 2010 census. Crawfordsville is part of the Terre Haute metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Crawfordsville was George H. Crawford who arrived in 1810. The town was named for him and his brother, James Crawford. In 1818, John Hargrave moved to the town from Goshen, Ohio and soon started a grocery store here that became one of the most successful in the area. Other early settlers included Moses Ladd and Abel Douglass IV. In 1825, General David Hull founded what would become Terre Haute as a military post on land he had purchased from French Canadian fur traders during their raids into Indian Territory. Hull served as commander until his death in 1828. After Hull's death, many of his men (many of whom were soldiers) decided to move to Terre Haute and start new life there after they completed their service at Fort Dearborn under General Harrison's command during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). This group included Isaac Morse and family; Ebenezer Morse; John Fenton; Reuben Painter; Levi Coffin; Asa Phelps; Amos Prentice; Michael Foster Sr.; John Foster Jr.; Daniel Boone II ;and William Henry Harrison (the future Ulysses S Grant). Many of these pioneers came through Crawfordsville on their way westward including Ebenezer Morse's father, Asa Phelps Sr., who operated a ferry across the river from where he lived on Main Street today known as Middlebrook Drive between US 24th St./US 32nd St./Indianola Rd./Hancock Ave./Easton Rd./New Albany Dr.). These early residents built churches and schools here which remain some of the most active in this community today such as First Methodist Church (founded by Asa Phelps Sr.), Community Christian Church (founded by Ebenezer Morse), Gothic Revival style First Baptist Church (built 1907), Crawford Memorial Library/Senior Center (opened 2003), Hagadorn Park Preschool/Kindergarten/First Grade School & Daycare Centers/Parks & Recreation Department/Halliburton Park Tennis Courts/. Today much of this activity takes place within or around historic downtown Crawfordsville while newer areas have been developed nearby such as North High School which opened in fall 2001 adjacent to OldHighSchools Building next door to current City Hall Annex building on Main Street near Jonathan Drake Gymnasium - home field for numerous local high school sports teams-. There are also several smaller businesses located throughout downtown cores like Girdle Men’s Store #1 just east of Third Street (#2 southeast corner Third Street #3 north side Third Street) now open for business since late spring 2005 – since when it has been called Girdle’s Grocery located inside old post office building with attached garage - providing an immediate handgun storage solution for all your needs!. Another recent addition Downtown is American Legion Post #5 opposite Bank Of America building - perfect spot for any civic gathering or large party!-. Crawford County Courthouse Complex south sideMainStreet between Easton Rd./New Albany Dr./Hancock Ave.#2). It should be noted that this complex contains many interesting buildings not found elsewhere such as: Artesian well house built c 1830 still used today#3) Joseph Pulitzer House – once home to Indianapolis Star Newspaper Publisher#4) Masonic Temple – once home to Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office#5) Goodspeed Children’s Hospital – closed circa 1990 but used by hospital staff currently.. One can stroll down MainStreet all day long without finding anything particularly interesting! However if one happens upon….. Fountain Square containing 3 large granite lions () belonging originally to Elkhart County Treasurer Elijah McFarlane#6) Griggs Drugstore #7 approximately two blocks southwest corner Second Avenue fronting I-465 access road##8) old Butterfield Hotel now restaurant called "The Butler" with live music each night from 6pm-1am##9) several buildings on site formerly used by Wabash Railroad Company - now office space for various businesses unrelated thereto##10) former Carter Glass Works building - now apartments

Cities around America soon started giving smallpox vaccinations out free within their limits so that soldiers could avoid fighting it if they contracted it while stationed abroad- an idea later adapted into World War II when air-raids caused widespread outbreaks across Europe due to Nazi Germany's use of "Vaccines" meant only for Jewish people! A similar program occurred during WWII called Operation Crossroads which saw blood transfusions taken from Italian POWs living adjacent US camps so that American troops could survive without getting sick! There are countless examples throughout military gift history where something was done simply because it felt good or served a purpose beyond just giving money!

In 1945, Crawfordfordsville's post office closed because of lack of mail service. In 1951, it merged with nearby Smallwood to form the new Crawfordfordsville-Smallwood Consolidated School District. The district has since been dissolved and its students have transferred to other districts or schools.
