On Oct. 8, 1931, the Indiana Air National Guard's 1st Squadron activated at Dyer Municipal Airport. It was the first squadron to be activated in the state of Indiana. The unit was composed of pilots and enlisted men from surrounding counties. The 1st Squadron flew training flights out of Dyer Municipal Airport until 1942 when it moved to Hammondsville Field, northeast of Indianapolis, where it remained for the next three years. In 1945, the squadron moved again to Grissom Army Airfield northwest of Indianapolis and continued flying training until 1946 when it disbanded.
Dyer, Indiana is a small town in southeast Indiana. The population was 1,582 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Lafayette metropolitan area. Dyer is located on the east bank of the Raccoon River and near its confluence with the West Branch of the Ohio River. The first European to visit Dyer was French explorer Jean de La Salle on July 26, 1679. He named it for Nicholas Dyer, an Englishman who had been captured by De Soto in 1540 and sold into slavery in Mexico. In 1802, President Thomas Jefferson visited Dyer and pronounced it "the most cheerful place I ever saw". A post office called Dyer was established in 1821, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. Dyers early industry included farming and lumbering; however, since coal became available local industries have changed over time including manufacturing ( attributable to Lafayette's location at the junction of two major railroads) such as munitions production during World War I and other industrial products during the late 19th century through to current day services providing internet access, home repairs/maintenance, vending machines, truck stops (including a gas station), assisted living facilities and land sales throughout much of central Indiana. In recent years there has been an increase in development around downtown which now includes several restaurants/cafes/bars/nightlife options as well as housing developments such as Lofts@Dyers that offer apartments above retail shops or standalone buildings from which residents can enjoy city views from their balconies or rooftop decks

These events demonstrated how important it is for our military to have effective air defenses so that we can protect our citizens and interests overseas. Today, there are many different types of airplanes available to USAF members which allows them to provide a wide range of services both at home and abroad. One example is Operation Neptune's Spear which was conducted during Desert Storm in 1991). This operation saw coalition airstrikes against Saddam Hussein’s forces while he was using his own chemical weapons against his own people. This action shows how vital it is for USAF members to be able to operate in any environment including hostile territory

Dyer, Indiana is located in the western third of the state of Indiana. The town was founded in 1847 by John Dyer. It became a city in 1907. Dyer is home to many factories and businesses that contribute to its economy. The city has a population of over 100,000 people and is the seat of government for the town. John Dyer was born on December 12, 1809, in Providence Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania. He emigrated to this country in 1837 with his family and settled in what is now known as Dyer Township. John Dyer worked as a laborer on various farms until he decided to start his own business in 1848. This business was called the Turnpike House Emporium. In 1862 John Dyer married Sarah Biddle and they started a family that would live heretil today. John Dyer served as Mayor of this town from 1886-1892 and 1895-1907. He also served as President of American Legion Post #326 from 1912-1915 and 1916-1920. In 1919 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Purdue University where he currently resides. Sarah Biddle Dyer died on October 10, 1957, at age 97 years old
