The History of The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf The first espresso place in Fort Wayne was called The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. This business was founded by Tom Thackeray in 1974. It was one of the earliest espresso places in America. At that time, it was just a small shop inside the old post office building on Depot Street. Tom Thackeray is also responsible for starting the popular daily blog called "Thackeray's Weekly" which continues to be published today. In 1978, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf moved to its current location on State Street in downtown Fort Wayne. It became one of the most successful espresso businesses in Fort Wayne history. Four Barrel Coffee Roasters The Four Barrel Coffee Roasters were founded by Karen Carpenter in 1998. They are located on East Green Street in downtown Fort Wayne. Karen started this business as a small catering service for local events like weddings and banquets! Today, she operates her own restaurant called Four Barrel Cafe which serves delicious coffee every day! She is also involved with several other charitable organizations helping people across town! Black & Blue Coffee Black & Blue Coffee was established by fortwayne native Kevin Baehr in 1999-2000 at 6th Ave W near Waterfront Park! They serve up delicious drip coffee all day long! Kevin also owns several restaurants throughout northwest Indiana including: KFC Ft worth; Big John’s Pizza; Barbara’s Burger Bar; TV Martini Grill - Ft Worth; Dutch Bros.; Johnny Rockets - Mishawaka; Donnie Darko’s - Lafayette; and more! Black & Blue is definitely an iconic name within Fort Wayne coffee culture!

This allows them to create a consistent level of flavor and aroma across all their products, which gives them an edge over other similar businesses that may only produce a limited number of different flavors and aromas on each cup. Some of the earliest examples of artisanal coffee can be found in Italy where monks would specifically purchase green Arabica beans for their religious ceremonies and then roast them themselves using traditional methods such as firing ovens at high temperatures with sulfur dioxide gas (which creates a dark roast). Over time, other countries followed suit with their own versions of this style of roasted Coffee Bean production including Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and Brazil (to name a few). Fort Wayne was founded in 1795 by the fur traders and missionaries, Father Jacques Marquette and Jean Baptiste Joliet. The early years were difficult as the area was located near the confluence of two rivers, The Maumee and the Wabash. In 1814, General Anthony Wayne led an army against Native Americans at Tippecanoe Creek, driving them back and opening up land for settlement. By 1827, Fort Wayne had become a thriving town with over fifty thousand residents. In 1828, the United States government purchased 1,000 acres of land from the local Indians in order to build a military post. The fort was named for George Washington Forbes who donated $10,000 towards its construction. After several years of construction work it was completed in 1830. The fort served as a base for American Indian scouts during their campaigns against Mexico and Spain. It is also noteworthy for its role in helping to develop Indiana into an important agricultural state. Today, Fort Wayne is a popular tourist destination with its historical homes and buildings attracting many visitors each year.

The first Europeans to arrive in Fort Wayne were French traders and missionaries, who founded the fort in 1795. The British took over the fort in 1803, and it was renamed Fort Wayne after General James Wilkinson, commander of U.S. forces at the time. The city was founded on land donated by the people of Fort Wayne in 1814. In 1830, the state of Indiana granted a charter to establish a college at Fort Wayne as part of an effort to encourage education in rural areas. The College of William and Mary opened its doors in 1840. In 1847, Congress created the United States Military Academy at West Point to provide training for officers leading American Wars abroad. After president George Washington resigned from office in 1797, he appointed his son-in-law, General Anthony Hamilton, as commander of U.S.? forces stationed at Detroit for operations against France during the Napoleonic Wars. In 1800, General Hamilton moved his headquarters from Detroit to Fort Wayne so that he could better supervision Ulysses S? Grant’s military campaigns against Mexico City during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). On September 14th 1847, President James Kappemon announced that West Point would be closed due to financial difficulties caused by increased costs associated with serving as superintendent of education for all states withinthe Union under new legislation passed by Congress called “the Kansas Compromise” which repealed anti-odious laws enacted during Andrew Johnson’s presidency two years earlier! A few weeks later on October 8th President Kappemon reopened West Point with 900 cadets and 50 full professors! Classes began on October 14th with only 12 cadets present! By 1853 enrollment had reached 1400 cadets! During this time period also Brigadier General Isaac Nourse became Commandant/Governor?of West Point after assuming responsibility from Major General John Nicholson who served concurrently as Commandant/Governor??of Mount Vernon Barracks near New York City while also commanding troops garrisoned thereon.? West Point became a coeducational institution starting with recruits enrolling male and female together until girls were admitted only upon successful completion of a rigorous program culminating with an eight week course offered jointly with nearby Rush University where girls then sat out their final three years before being accepted into boy dormitories! Admission exams for both men and women were administered simultaneously across all branches; however women did not take these exams until much later !! Initially open only to Officers Candidate School graduates instead of general commissioned officers like men; but soon enough openings started opening up for Regular Army officer candidates too !!! Finally fully admitting female students ere summer term 1870 when all male students graduated except 1st Lieutenant Colonel Augustus De Forest who continued attending school fulltime while working Odd Jobs on campus ?? !!
