Kokomo, Indiana is home to the largest coffee industry in the United States. The Kokomo Coffee Company has been roasting and selling coffee since 1892. Today, Kokomo Coffee Company continues to produce high-quality beans and serve delicious coffee to customers all over the Midwest. The history of Kokomo Coffee Company can be traced back to 1892 when George H. Thomas founded the company in Kokomo, Indiana. At that time, Kokomo was a small town with few resources. To provide enough income for his business, GeorgeH.Thomas started roasting and selling coffee from his home. In 1898, he bought a cooperative property on which he operated the Kokomo Coffee Company until his death in 1918. After GeorgeH.Thomas' death, his widow continued running the business as an individual enterprise until her husband's successor purchased it from her in 1924. The new owner changed the name of the company to The Kokomo Coffee Company Incorporated (TKCO). During this time, TKCO produced more than 2 million cups of blueberry coffee each year and served more than 10,000 customer visits per month! In 1931 TKCO merged with two other businesses to form The parent company of present day American Coffee Corporation (AFC). AFC was one of America's first large caffeine companies and continue production of quality Kopi Lenght products up until 2007 when they merged with Swiss Chalet USA into Keurig Green Mountain Incorporated (CGMI). Today, Kokomi Coffeeplease continues operation as part of CGMI and serves delicious cupcakes made from their famous beans every day!

Kokomo, Indiana is a small town located in northwestern Indiana. The population was 9,527 at the 2010 census. The Kokomo area was settled by European Americans in the 1830s and 1840s. It became a city in 1907. Kokomo is the county seat of LaPorte County. The Kokomo area was first surveyed by Captain John Butler in 1839. He named the area after his friend and mentor, George Washington Carver, who had visited the area earlier that year. In 1843, Indian trader James Suckling established a post near present-day Kokomo to trade with the local Native American tribe known as the Potawatomi. The post served as a trading center for many years before it was destroyed by fire in 1847. In 1851, General David Dixon organized an expedition to explore new territory in northwest Indiana that included present-day Kokomo. On this trip, they discovered coal deposits and built Fort Dearborn on what is now State Road 2 (now US Highway 31). In 1860, General Nathan Bedford Forrest purchased land south of Fort Dearborn from David Dixon for $10 per acre; this land would become known as Forrest County. In 1865, General Ulysses S Grant traveled through Forrest County on his way to visit Abraham Lincoln during his term as President of America. After spending time at Fort Dearborn and other points along State Road 2, he returned home via Route 66 and passed through Kokomo on his way northward. This event helped establish Kokono

However, recent trends have been positive; since 2000 there has been an increase in median household income and construction activity has picked up significantly throughout the town due to new housing developments and restaurants opening up along with more businesses starting up locally (e.g., Amazon).
