In 1931, Maga Coffee Corporation was founded in Merrillville with the goal of bringing quality coffee to area residents. At that time, Elias Merrill was living in what is now downtown Merrillville and he started growing maga beans for his own personal use. He sold his beans to local merchants and traders for a small fee. By 1807, maga beans were being exported from India to Europe for sale as luxury goods. In 1831, Elias Merrill passed away and his son-in-law John Cramer took over operations at Maga Coffee Corporation. John Cramer was an experienced business man who had experience importing spices and other items needed to run a successful smuggling operation from India into America. He quickly became known as the "Father of American Tea." Under John Cramer's guidance, Maga Coffee Corp grew along with its reputation for excellent cup of java! From their origins as humble beginnings as a family-owned business, John Cramer's heirs turned MAGAinto one of America's leading coffee companies! They continue to produce world-class cup of Java for today's consumers worldwide!

Merrillville is a small town in the southern district of Indiana, United States. The population was 5,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville metropolitan area. Merrillville was laid out in 1836 by John Merrill and his wife Deborah. The name Merrillville comes from James Merrill, one of the original landowners in what is now the town. The first store in Merrillville opened its doors on May 1, 1837. In 1841, John Fenton set up a gristmill on the current site of downtown Merrillville and began to produce flour for local markets. By 1870, there were six stores and seventy-six residents living in what is now Merrillville. In 1865, George Wickenburg bought land northeast of downtown and started to build a cotton gin which became one of the largest cotton gins in America at that time. By 1880, there were twelve stores and over one thousand people living in what is now downtown Merrillville with many businesses catering to both locals and visitors alike including four banks (First National Bank; American National Bank; State Bank & Trust Company; First Presbyterian Church). One hundred years later, Downtown Business District has grown considerably with three new buildings erected along Main Street between Third Street and Fourth Street – portions of which date back to 1915 when city fathers decided to make use of this valuable commercial real estate as an anchor for future growth within their boundaries…Today’s downtown business district offers plenty of shopping opportunities not only for customers inside City Hall but also for those who travel into nearby Evansville or Terre Haute for visits during summertime when all major retailers are open outside–a perfect place to enjoy excellent live music performances or top-notch food services while staying close enough to be convenient but not too close so as not to miss any activities taking place within walking distance… Downtown business district ©2015 byCityofMerrillvill

It is said that this coffee was introduced to America by Turkish immigrants working in the coffee industry in Istanbul. The beans were roasted and ground at a soon-to-be opened café on Second Street in Philadelphia called Sultan’s Cafe. The ground beans were then transferred to warehouses located near University City and sold to various cafés throughout America. The popularity of maga coffee increased during World War I because soldiers who needed energy or caffeine found it difficult to find other types of caffeinated drinks like tea or chocolate milk while fighting on the battlefield. Consequently, many American cafés began serving maga coffee as part of their morning menu. After the war, maga coffee became even more popular due to its unique flavor profile and its ability to give people an energizing start to their day. In 1980, Starbucks Corporation purchased a controlling interest in Sultan’s Cafe which led to the reintroduction of maga Coffee into Starbucks’ menu nationwide for the first time since 1978. Since then, maga Coffee has continued its growth as one of Starbucks Corporation’s most popular products worldwide.

Merrillville is a small town in Butler County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,032 at the 2010 census. Merrillville is part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Merrillville was George Davenport and his family who arrived in 1792. The town was platted on November 2, 1814 by John Pope and Daniel Freeman with the name of Vincennes Township. In 1836, it became part of Butler County and absorbed the smaller towns of Hammondsburg, North Newton, and Clinton. In 1856, Merrillville became a city when it annexed the neighboring villages of Union and West Terre Haute. It had a population of 553 when it incorporated as a city on January 15, 1907 under the name of Merrillville (a corruption of "Merrill Township"). The city limits were expanded to include portions of north Monroe Township on July 1, 1912. On December 9th 1909 China White landed her ship "Discovery" at Pier 6 near downtown Merrillville after reaching New York City from Shanghai through Taiwan without incident or loss to navigation during an attempt made by many American vessels during World War I to reach China for help against Germany’s armed forces before Japan could intervene. In commemorationof this event Revolutionary War veteran Major General James Wilkinson donated land located between Commercial Street and State Street just east of what is now known as Green Bay Drive in what is now downtown Merrillville for the erectionof an open-air monumentded to America's new international sisterhood -the International Red Cross Societies
Merrillville was founded in 1814 by Nicholas Merrill and his wife Elizabeth. The town was named after Nicholas Merrill’s ancestor, the Reverend Merrill who had arrived in America in 1795. The first settler in Merrillville was John Morse. In 1821, the city of Terre Haute moved to what is now the eastern edge of Merrillville. By 1829, a post office had been established in the town and by 1842, it had become a small village with a population of just over 100 people. By 1870, most of the people living in Merrillville had relocated to other parts of Indiana. However, some residents continued to live and work in the town until its closure by federal government officials during World War II.
