The history of shooters in Mishawaka, Indiana dates back to 1911. In that year, two men named Frank and Harry Witkowski opened the first shooting gallery in Mishawaka. The Gallery was located on the corner of 25th Street and Delaware Avenue. There were originally ten galleries across the city, but only four remain today. The Witkowski brothers were responsible for many aspects of the Shooters Club which operated from 1911 until 1949. These included organizing shoots, maintaining records of members’ scores, and providing instruction to new shooters. In 1924, another shooter named George Kapp organized a shoot at what is now the Mishawaka Civic Center. This event became known as “Kapp’s Night Out” and attracted top-tier shooters from around the Midwest. In 1928, Frank Witkowski passed away and his brother Harry took over management of theshootersclub. It was during this time that WITKOWSKI FAMILY SHOOTING GALLERY became one of Mishawaka’s most prominent businesses. In 1949, Harry Witkowski died leaving behind his son Frank Jr., who continued to run the business until his death in 1978. Frank Jr.'s successors continue to operate WITKOWSKI FAMILY SHOOTING GALLERY into present day. Today, WITKOWSKI FAMILY SHOOTING GALLERY is one of Mishawaka's most popular tourist attractions with visitors coming from all over Indiana for their annual Shootfest experience!

Mishawaka is a village in DeKalb County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,272 at the 2010 census. Mishawaka is part of the Terre Haute–Alphonseville Micropolitan Statistical Area. Mishawaka is known for its Mishawaka cheese and apple pie. The first European to visit Mishawaka was French Jesuit Father Jacques Marquette in 1679. He named the Village after his patron saint, St. Maurice (Mahomet), because he felt that this deity had blessed him on his journey from Michilimackinac to Chicagoland. In 1786, George Washington explored what is now DeKalb County and stopped near present-day Mishawaka on his way back from Fort Dearborn. This event helped put the town on the map as a place where people could stop for food and rest during their travels through central Illinois. In 1814, Libby’s Ferry crossed the Kankakee River just north of today’s Mishawaka and connected with Moline by way of a bridge over the same river crossing atpresent-day Ford Road. This allowed travelers between Moline and Chicago to bypass Kinnickinnic Lake by boat or train before making their way southward along I-80/91 to reach Chicago via Oswego or Rock Island Railroad stations en route to points east or west of Chicago such as Lawrenceburg or Tinley Park among others When General Ulysses S Grant arrived in America in 1864 during the Civil War, he found much of Illinois under occupation by Confederate forces including parts of DeKalb County including Mishawaka which then became Union territory following the war In 1871, farmers established a gristmill on White River southwest of present day Mishawaka which became an important economic engine for the community until it closed in 1922 due to competition from larger mills located further downriver . A dam was built across White River upstream from today’s town center in 1923 which diverted water used for irrigation into local streams providing more reliable water resources for local residents . However , this dam also caused flooding that destroyed many homes and businesses in 1927 when high water levels resulted from heavy rains caused by an El Nino weather pattern . A new dam was built downstream from this original one which still provides reliable water resources today
