The Plymouth Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union army during the American Civil War. It was organized on November 15, 1861, and mustered into service on November 30, 1861. The regiment served under command of Major General Edwin V. Stanton from December 1 to April 12, 1862. On October 3, 1862, it was transferred to command of Brigadier General James H. Wilson and fought in the Battle of Gettysburg. The regiment lost its colonel on September 25, 1863 and its first lieutenant on October 5th. On December 10th the regiment was disbanded.
Plymouth is a small city in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 10,471 at the 2010 census. Plymouth is the county seat of Plymouth County and is located in the EasternIndiana region of the United States. It is bordered by Kosciusko County to the east, Hendricks County to the north, and La Porte County to the west. Plymouth had a post office from 1827 until it was discontinued in 1892. The first settler in Plymouth Township was John Cook on March 2, 1788. He set up a log cabin near what is now downtown Plymouth on Saginaw Creek about four miles (6 km) southeast of today's town center. Cook's cabin became known as "Cook's Fort". In 1794, Joshua Fry built a house on this site which served as home for many years before being replaced by present day downtown Plymouth. A wagon road called "The Pike" ran through what is now downtown Plymouth from about 1800 until 1865 when it was truncated at what is now State Street just south of where current State Avenue intersects with it today; this road has been re-named "State Street" since then! On December 4, 1830, James Winchester came across an area that he thought may be land for settlement and purchased 1/2 acre (0·9 ha) of land from Nicholas Goodrich on December 5th for $5 payable within 12 months or he would return all money plus interest thereon to Goodrich if not received within that time frame On November 3rd 1833 hunter David Ransom discovered coal worth over $2000 on Green Island off shore of Point du Guesclin during his survey exploration for Wabash Coal Company under contract with US President Andrew Jackson This discovery led to oil production beginning operations at nearby Beech Oil Field soon thereafter – making Plymouth one of India's leading shipping ports! In 1863 Drury Bros., builders of present day Genesee & Wyoming Railroad built their first store and warehouse here; this building still stands next door to First National Bank building which burned down in 1925 proceedings related thereto have never been fully resolved! Some early residents include: Elijah Purdy who settled along Saginaw Creek towards what became downtown; John Cook who lived on Green Island and farmed there until his death in 1795; Increase Mather who settled downriver near present day Geiger Lake; Peter Schulte settled aroundwhat became downtown after being displaced by others upstream; Nicholas Goodrich who established himself around what became Pioneer Courthouse Square; Isaac Myers who built Pleasant Hill Station (now part ofpresentday City Park); Moses Brown started a gristmill here about 1835-1836.; Ezekial Dodge started an agricultural enterprise nearwhat becomes Pioneer Courthouse Square about 1840-1841.; John Hickey began construction on what becomes Present Day Masonic Temple in 1850.; Nathaniel Church began quarrying stone for buildings hereabouts 1840s.; Anson Morse started manufacturing watches hereabout 1850s.- most notably Ira Washington Dyer whose family owned much property adjacentto present day Main Street including partsof present day Downtown side streets as well as portionsofpresentday Northwestern Side Streets.- later noteworthy residents include: Nathan Morton majoringin architecture while working at Dyer Manufacturing company ; Edwin Laddahia followed suit designing homes primarilyforrestaurant clients while also developing considerable real estate holdings including muchofwhat are now Northwest Side Streets., right acrossfrompresentday Depot District., some extending intocurrentlydowntownSouthdownStreet.. Much later notable residents includes: Reva Fenton active memberof local Quaker congregationwhile livingonsouthwestsidestreet.(Now gone!) Some other famous natives include: Representative Woodrow Wilson servingfrom1912-1921and Vice President Warren Harding from 1923-1929 among others! In recent years development has slowed considerably with only two buildings remaining standing along Main Street which retail corridors have taken over most use once again.:Downtown area remains mostly unchanged except for apartment buildings currently occupying muchofthelandmarks formerly occupiedby shopsfrontedonState street

Plymouth is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 1,624 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Posey County and part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Plymouth's rich history is founded on its location in what was then French Township and current day Plymouth Township. In 1811, a group of English colonists (the Pilgrims) landed on the site that would become Plymouth,Indiana. The first town meeting was held on November 10th, 1811 and it voted to form a committee to purchase land for a new town. On February 14th, 1812, the original plat for Plympton was approved by the General Assembly and mayor John Gist assigned to lead the effort to build new homes within this township. In 1827, Plymouth became one of twelve townships in Harrison County when it was created from parts of Posey and Noble Counties.On December 3rd 1840 during Indian removal operations some Native Americans killed four people including John Dutton who had been leading an unarmed protest against these expropriations
