It is no surprise that Speedway, Indiana, is known for its artisan coffee. This city was founded in 1887 by two Swedish farmers, Gustavus and Emilie Nordin. The Nordins ran a small grocery store and coffee shop in the town square. The couple started roasting their own beans and selling them to local businesses. In 1907, they opened a larger business called the Second City Coffee House. They served smoothies, hot chocolate, and other drinks from their kitchen until 1978. The First City Coffee House continued serving food until 1984 when it closed due to financial troubles. However, the Starbucks location which opened in 2006 has kept Speedway's artisanship alive. Today, there are more than thirty-five cafes located in the city of Speedway alone. Some of these establishments specialize in different types of coffee such as Italian espresso or Turkish black tea; while others serve all sorts of refreshments such as soft drinks or bagels with cream cheese. One reason why Speedway is so situated for artisan coffee transactions is because of its rich history with coffee houses dating back to antiquity! In 1916, two American businessmen named John D’Angelo and George Erdmann opened what became known as The First Coffee Spot on Main Street in Speedway. This spot served both hot beverages and iced coffees from a large copper pot on the front porch! After World War II ended, many businesses moved out of downtown Speedtown due to competition from interstate highways and other development projects. However, The First Coffee Spot remain open until present day and continues to sell coffee direct from their large copper pot on Main Street!

The first mention of espresso can be found in 1292 AD when Dante wrote about “the Italian cup” in his poem Divine Comedy. Coffee wasn’t actually discovered until 1795 when Giovanni Battista Perugini named an article of wood charcoal “Espresso” after his patroness – the Queen della Scala, now known as Saint Ambrosia – while he was working at her palace in Milan! Today we enjoy many different types of artisanal coffees because they offer unique flavors and experiences that cannot be found elsewhere. These coffees often come from small farms or roasters who pride themselves on their quality control and hand-selected ingredients. Speedway is a city in Johnson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 12,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Johnson County. Speedway is located in the eastern part of the state and immediate vicinity of Cincinnati and Louisville, Kentucky. The city was founded in 1875 as a logging town on the Ohio River east of Cincinnati. In 1879, Speedway became one of three towns inJohnson County (the other two being Lebanon and Fort Wayne) when it was organized from parts of Hardin and Kosciusko counties. The first post office opened in 1881 at Speedway; it closed in 1906. By 1920, Speedway had become an important transportation center for central Indiana with its railroads connecting to major cities throughout the Midwest. In 1925, Speedway renamed itself "Speedway" after its nearby hometown of Dayton, Ohio which had been renamed "Daytona" after Englishman William Pitt Luckett's failed attempt to purchase land north of Interstate 70 near Dayton in that year. In 1933, speedways were built all around America as part of President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal program to improve transportation conditions during difficult times during the Great Depression. During World War II Speedway served as a training ground for U.S Army Air Forces pilots; many famous airmen such as Chuck Yeager trained here including John F Kennedy and Neil Armstrong who both flew jetsfighter planes at nearby Edwards Air Force Base before their respective space flights.. In 1949-1950 Speedway hosted what is considered one of the most important annual motorsports events on American soil when NASCAR's Grand National Championship was held there that year under caution following earlier races at Illinois' Indianapolis Motor Speedway which were then called "The Brickyard". By 1957 almost all racing activities at Speedway had been moved to new facilities adjacent to I-71 just outside Cincinnati due to concerns about whether or not I-71 would be available for years due to construction projects along that highway including President Dwight Eisenhower's interstate road project known as The Great Highway Project which included building four lanes southbound Interstate 71 between Cincinnati and Indianapolis while also widening I-70 from six lanes westbound to eight lanes eastbound). That same year also saw the introduction by NASCAR president Bill France Jr.; his wife Alma Drummond France who later served as his wife until her death in 2008; Nationwide Series race director Gerry Swenson into NASCAR’s top level competition where he would serve until his retirement during 2012 season when he succeeded Geoff Bodine as NASCAR CEO

The history of Speedway goes back to 1875 when it was known as "Indianapolis Motor Speedway". In 1907, racecar driver Ed Sheppard founded the Sheppard-Edwards Racing Corporation which raced cars on what is now the oval track that fronts Herndon Avenue in downtown Indianapolis. In 1911, Harvey W. Smith opened his first gasoline station in Speedway and began providing fuel for cars racing on the oval track. That same year saw the first grand prix event at Indy Raceway Park with three races: one for drivers from Illinois and two for drivers from Michigan. On July 4th 1916 Speedway hosted its very first international race with British drivers Bertie Meyer (GB) and Harry Hirst (GB) taking on American mechanics Jack Widmer and Joe Fisher.widmer finished second while fisher placed third
