Zionsville is a town in Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2000 census. Zionsville is located on the eastern banks of the White River and is part of the North Central Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit what is now Zionsville was French explorer Antoine de la Salle in 1679. He named it for Benjamin Zion, an American Revolutionary War soldier who had died during the Battle of Bunker Hill. Zionsville was platted by James Kapp in 1834 and became a village that same year. It incorporated as a town on December 12, 1856. The name comes from "zion," meaning "a stronghold." The community's ZIP code is 81201. It has been home to many businesses including two hospitals, sixteen churches, two manufacturing plants and two schools since its incorporation: One public school (Old Academy) and one private school (New Academy). Today there are only a couple grocery stores and one convenience store left in Zionsville while most of the buildings have been demolished or replaced with newer ones over time- most notably Old Academy which closed down in 2001 after serving as both a high school and post office for more than seventy years! A new high school has recently been built just north of downtown Zionsville with plans to serve all of Hendricks County as well as parts of LaPorte and Porter counties should it ever be completed!

Zionsville is a small town in Northwest Indiana, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the larger Indianapolis metropolitan area. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Zionsville were French traders and missionaries from Quebec City in 1692. Father Jacques Marquette visited the area in 1779 and noted that the "forestous country" around present-day Zionsville "still supports large trees." A post office was established at Zionsville in 1812, and by 1827 it had become an important stop on the road between Indianapolis and Chicago. In 1846, local land owner Josiah Strong organized a religious group called Zion's Camp for Sharing which soon became an influential force in local politics. The group built a church (now known as First Baptist Church) on Mount Pleasant Avenue in 1849. In 1870, Strong sold his holdings to developer George Wigmore who laid out what would become Zionsville into areas of single-family homes, churches, business districts and schools. By 1920, over 60% of the community had been built or developed with some form of infrastructure - including six high school campuses, two hospitals (Oneida County hospital and St John's Hospital), two shopping malls (Wrigley Field mall and Harrison Mall), four public libraries (one each at Central High School & South Park Place; Eastern High School; Monmouth Community College; Worthington Community College), four professional sports teams (the Pacers basketball team formed by George Wigmore himself; football played by Rush University until 1922; ice hockey played by EVP Hockey until 1996), three golf courses (two within walking distance of downtown ZionsVILLE while one still under construction), five parks/reserves totaling over , four museums/galleries (), RV parking space for 2,500 vehicles (), eleven ZIP code postal codes () - many with special significance such as "Ziontown", "Bluegrass Hills", etc., as well as numerous businesses connected to their respective neighborhoods including banks/credit cards companies/, grocery stores/, movie theaters/, etc., making Zionsville one of largest development towns east of Philadelphia or New York City during its early years." In 1950s Richard Nixon delivered speeches here about how America should be run like Christianity should be run: “Our method is simple—we work together for common goals rather than separate ourselves into camps” This successful city started off life slowly but steadily gained momentum due to several factors–such as its location midway between Indianapolis Junction & Chicago –two very important industrial centers at that time –and because it attracted pioneers like Colonel Henry Clay Frick Sr., who donated land near today’s intersection of I-465 & I-469 for use as farmland . For many years this agricultural outpost served primarily as a bedroom community for employees commuting to more prominent cities during down times; however starting around 1960 it began experiencing rapid growth due largely to people looking for affordable housing outside Of Indy during those tough economic times
