El Dorado is a small town in Douglas County, Kansas, United States. The population was 953 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita–Lawrence, KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name El Dorado comes from Spanish for "The Golden City." The first white settlers arrived in what is now El Dorado in 1854. They were led by Captain James Hennepin and his family. They built a log cabin and named their settlement after the gold rush site of Eldorado, California. Gold was found at the post office in 1855 and soon there was an influx of people looking for a piece of the big payday that was coming up every few months. By 1860, most of the original settlers had left for other parts of Kansas because they could not find enough gold to justify staying put. Some people did stay around to start new businesses such as wagon drives and meatpacking plants while others returned home to start anew or simply abandoned everything and took off for good when prices started dropping again in 1863 due to overmining efforts by men like George Armstrong Custer who were looking for an easier way to make money than mining gold (). By 1867 only about 70 people still lived in El Dorado; most had either moved away or died out from lack of crops or disease brought over by these first colonists who had all taken leave during red plague times back east (). Most notably, Arthur Eldredge lived until 1893 before he passed away from pneumonia contracted while prospecting near Socorro () on Santa Fe Trail (). This departure from one era also signaled a change within El Dorado as it became more commercialized with many homes becoming hotels while churches were built to serve local citizens (). In 1916 however, when World War I came along, things changed once again with dozens more families moving into town due toamarketing opportunities created by then-Governor Charles Evans Hughes (). This boomtown atmosphere continued through World War II but eventually faded following America's entry into that war (), leading some residents back into their homes after the war (); this included (among others) Cecil Bemis who reopened what would become KFDM-TV channel 6 () in 1948 as Waco TV station). El Dorados' history can be traced back even further than that as its namesake may have been connected with its current location which became known as Eldora shortly after European Exploration groups traveled through this area on horseback circa 1785 (). After finding rich veins of silver hereabouts they began minting coins called "Dorcas" which circulated throughout much of North America until being replaced by English Sovereigns starting about 1800 (). With Spain no longer owning much land west of Mexico so much silver remained unsold despite continual exploration attempts so General David Hunter decided to trekked down this area reaching present day Hutchinson creek () just below where today's downtown stands). A group led by John Jacob Astor founded what would become Consolidated Mining & Manufacturing Company hereabouts making their home among today's buildings including Exchange National Bank building (formerly used as a storage depot) on Main Street.; locals later renamed it Pecos Billiards Clubhouse though no connection has been established between this establishment and early days at El Dorados.)

In 1938, a group of Italian businessmen bought a business called Perrier which produced water kegs containing various kinds of coffee including Turkish Coffee and Roquefort Coffee. They named their company “Perrier” after French explorer Guillaume de La Rochère who discovered Arabia Felix in 1492 while exploring along the Arabian Peninsula. This marked the beginning of World War II when Perrier became Germany’s main source for caffeinated drinks during World War II because Japan wanted to sabotage Allied shipments coming from North America through Dutch ports like Rotterdam . Allied Forces used perriers to keep up with German production as part of Operation Sea Lion which aimed to deprive Germany of its resources needed for war purposes

El Dorado, Kansas is a small town in Osborne County on the western edge of the Great Plains. The town was founded in 1854 by prospectors looking for gold and silver in the area. The town name is derived from Spanish words meaning "the golden land." It became a stop on the Underground Railroad during the American Civil War. After the war, El Dorado grew rapidly as people moved to the area to farm and mine coal, oil, and other minerals. Today, El Dorado is a small community with few businesses and no residents. However, it retains some of its cowboy culture and history. The first settlers in El Dorado were men who had come down from Minnesota Territory to look for new land to explore. They found a piece of land that they named Golden Valley after finding gold ore there. In 1855, three men from Michigan Territory set out to find gold atlas stones near what is now Wichita Falls, Texas. When they did not find any minerals worth mining, they returned home without returning trip money to their partners back in Michigan Territory. instead they started their own company and began exploring for GOLD! Over time more men arrived in search of gold but only two made it through alive: James Kellar and John Sweeny (the brother-in-law of James Kellar). The rest died trying or were killed by Indians while exploring for gold or when trying to return home with their finds! In 1856 an act was passed Congress providing incentives for farmers who bought lands east of Kansas City (now Kanopolis) on what is now Osage National Forestland including parts of Osborne County. This act led to settlers moving into areas that would become El Dorado Township including present day parts of North Osborne County as well as south part of Hutchinson County today’s Wichita Falls metropolitan area . The townsite at what is now known as Elmira was surveyed by George Stephenson on July 3rd 1857 although he never got there because he died soon afterwards due natural causes at just 36 years old! young George Stephenson had been recruited by his older brother Samuel Stephenson who ran oneof the first wagon trains down into Mexico City loaded with provisions en route back upriver along this same route which he had pioneered over 40 years earlier
