When the first coffee beans were planted in Emporia, Kansas in 1875, it was a small town of about 100 residents. The local farmers grew and roasted their own coffee until 1914. With the rise of World War I, they turned to buying beans from other farmers in order to stay afloat. In 1937, Emporia CoffeeCompany merged with the Rappahannock Coffee Company. Today, Rappahannock Coffee is a subsidiary of Peet's Blue Ribbon Coffee Co., Incorporated. The history of high-quality coffee in Emporia goes back over 150 years! The first beans that were grown here were probably grown by Native Americans who had been using green manioc for food and drink since at least 9500 BC. In 1863, when white settlers started arriving in what is now Emporia County, they began trading goods with the natives and growing their own coffee bushes. By 1875, when the original coffee company was founded here, people had already begun to use espresso (a type of Italian roast) as a morning or afternoon ceremonial drink because it was thought to be more refreshing than regular coffee. Emmoria was named after Majerus (Jehovah) on November 3rd 1792 according to United States History Online . Majerus also donated land for a public school here which helped spur development around this area including the construction of several churches and businesses along Main Street today known as Highland Avenue east of downtown Emporia . In 1938 an innovative new process called roasting became standard practice at Rappahannock CoffeeCompany with this step increasing flavor quality significantly while preserving all important nutrients like antioxidants and caffeine levels Today’s roasters continue to adhere to these principles while creating delicious cups of java that are sure to please any palate!

Emporia coffee began as a small town in Emporia County, Kansas in 1887. It was not until 1916 that the first espresso machine was purchased in town and coffee continued to be served from small local cafes until World War II. In 1949, the first grocery store opened in town and started selling goods related to coffee. By 1972, the first larger cafe had been opened in town and coffee continued to be sold there until it closed its doors in 1984. The last known Cafe serving Coffee was located on Main Street near State Fairgrounds.
Emporia, Kansas is a city in the U.S. state of Kansas. The population was 9,854 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Emporia County. The city is bordered by Wichita to the east, Topeka to the west, and Shawnee Mission to the north. The first settlement in what is now Emporia County was made by Captain John Sellers on July 24, 1854, while he was stationed at Fort Leavenworth with his regiment of United States Marines. He named his new town after himself and one of his ships - "Empress". In 1855, Captain Sellers' town served as a depot for goods coming up the Arkansas River from Council Bluffs, Iowa; it became an important commerical center until Wichita took over that role in 1911. In 1907, local farmers set out to build a cotton gin on what is now Kipling Drive downtown; they failed because of lack of water resources and money raised for construction also didn't pan out. However, this didn't stop locals from trying again in 1912 when they started a coal mine near where Kipling Drive meets Main Street; this mine proved successful but again failed because there wasn't enough water available to support it. A group of enterprising young men decided to try their luck again in 1916 when they drilled a well on land just east of today's downtown; this well led to development around it including the creation of Kipling Dr., which runs northeast-southwest through downtown Emporia today (it used to be called Indianola Avenue). From 1916 until 1951, Emporia was located within present-day Wichita County; however since then it has been annexed into Topeka County as part of its growth. In 1925–1926,[2] two brothers founded The Daily Globe Newspaper Company which published The Eagle (laterKansas City Star) until 1957[3]. On April 15th 1927,[4] The Eagle moved its operations from Topeka into what would become Emporia as its first building.[5][6][7] In 1947,[8] Fenton Waddell donated most or all of his farmstead along Cherry Creek which lies between Third and Fourth Streets east side Highway 101 Business Loop current day University Boulevard (now I-70) highway extension adjacent property line original map township line On October 5th 1919[9], General Motors Corporation bought forty acres surrounding their plant at 219 S Main Street for $50 thousand dollars plus interest payable every year.[10]) This site later became known as GM Place and currently houses First Midwest Bank & Trust Company headquarters across Monroe Street from older Chevrolet Plant demolished in early 2017 due Arsenio Hall's showmanship being surpassed only by Lloyd Blankfein's during CEO tenure following Mr Blankfein departing company prior too begin officially taking office January 1st 2020

Emporia, Kansas is a city in the U.S. state of Kansas. The population was 28,595 at the 2010 census, making it the second most populous city in the state after Wichita. It is the county seat of Emporia County and home to numerous businesses, including Monsanto and Boeing. The first settlement in what is now Emporia County was made by Canadian immigrants on a farm east of present-day Topeka in 1854. By 1870, there were over 200 residents living in six small towns within Emporia County: Atchison, Bellefontaine, Blackwellsville, Bowie, and Garden City. In 1885, Topeka became the county seat and emporia grew slowly until World War I stopped new development; however during that time many new homes were built in town as people returned to their farms or moved back into older homes vacated by soldiers and civilians who had fought abroad or left for other countries during World War I. In 1925, voters passed an ordinance changing the name from Bellefontaine to Emporia after then-governor James Muhlenberg's wife Alma (1889-1974). This act was popularly supposed to honor Topeka's role as both capital of Kansas Territory (1829-1845) and as its largest city since New York City (1783-1873). However no one took up challenge to rename Topeka as "Empire" because that term had been used for nearby Shawnee Settlement prior to this event. In November 1937 a group of local businessmen petitioned United States Congress for recognition of their city as an official "City of Empire" which they received unanimously two months later on December 7th whileTopeka still served as its Capital Territory under President Franklin D Roosevelt’s Executive Order No.: 9292[1]. Once again Topeka served concurrently as Capital Territory following World War II before being renamed Independence on July 24th following enactment of Public Law 277[2] which changed all territorial names within the United States based uponocations when it became effective January 1st 1945[3]. On October 15th 1951 Rapid City established itself as an unincorporated community located east of Independence along US Highway 69/US Highway 287 about 12 miles southwest of Independence proper; however this community failed within three years due largely to lackadaisical planning on part of its founders who did not take into consideration that Rapid City would soon become home to nearly twice the population then Emporia had when it first emerged[4]; also Partrick ranching operations located just north west of Rapid City began yielding high quality herds early in the 21st century provoking competition among ranchers pushing values such Asahina cattle production well beyond those at earlier times characteristic primarily around Dodge City area where traditional landholding patterns prevailed with greater emphasis placed upon water management rather than productivity considerations thereby perpetuatingtoday's disparities betweenAsahina cattle production areas characterized primarily by large ranches outside major cities
Emporia was founded in 1854 by George Stephenson. It became a town in 1857, and it had its first school in 1859. The first courthouse in Emporia was built in 1865. In 1865, the first railroad was built through Emporia, and it became a town in 1888. The last of the original stockholders of the Kansas Pacific Railroad took their seats on the board of directors on November 15, 1907.
