Air force gifts have been a part of the Wichita community for many years. The Hutchinson National Guard detachment stationed in Great Bend has given back to the community by giving out airforce gift certificates, toys and more over the years. The Hutchinson National Guard detachment stationed in Great Bend started giving out air force gift certificates in 1984. It has since become one of the most popular units within the Wichita military community for gifting. Gifts include items like toy cars, war games and more. In 2012, AFB Wichita initiated a program called Army & Air Force Gifting occasion which celebrates 20 years of service by members of both branches of our military. Through this event, AFB Wichita donated 10% off all gift purchases at all their stores from November 8-10th! This was an opportunity to show our appreciation for all that servicemen and women have done for us throughout the years. Since its inception, AFB Wichita’s Army & Air Force Gifting occasion has brought together hundreds of people from across the Wichita community to celebrate service and support each other through purchasing unique items from across the United States Military Department Store network!

In Great Bend, Kansas, the United States Air Force has a long and proud history of giving back to the community. The USAF operates more than 350 bases in 41 countries, and provides services to nearly 350 million citizens worldwide. The USAF's history in Great Bend began with the founding of Base Mound in 1922. The base became part of the United States Army during World War II and was later renamed Great Bend Army Air Field. In 1948, Base Mound was transferred to the USAF and is now home to the 7th Bomb Wing. Great Bend has also been home to other important military installations over the years, including: Mid-Continent Missile Range; White Sands Missile Range; McConnell Air Force Base (later Herington AFB); Randolph Air Force Base (later Scott AFB); Tinker AFB; and Mountain Home AFB.
Great Bend is a small town in Kansas, located on the Arkansas River. The population was 7,645 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Great Bend Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what would become Great Bend was David Carpenter in 1855. Today, Great Bend is home to many people who have made their homes here over time, including farmers, ranchers, and professionals. Some of the most famous residents of Great Bend include local minister W.H. Robinson and businessman Milton Hershey Jr.. In recent years, tourism has become an important facet of the community's economy and there are now several restaurants and hotels located in town as well as a large convention center that can accommodate up to 2,000 guests.
When the United States Air Force was formed in 1947, there were only a few squadron-sized units. The need for airpower had been established during World War II when theAAF flew more than 1 million missions in support of the war effort. After the war, America needed to rebuild its military and find new ways to fight wars. So, in 1948, Congress created the USAF with a mandate to provide "the best possible aerial power against any potential opponent." The first USAF unit was activated on December 15th of that year when Republic F-84D Thunderjets were delivered to RAF Fairford for use by the USAAF. The Thunderjets became part of 529 Troop Carrier Wing at Wright-Patterson AFB. Over time, other units were added to 529 TOW Wing (later 919th Tactical Airlift Group) which served as Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron until it was disbanded on October 30th, 1958 due to budgetary cuts. In 1960, 528 TFW (later 838th Tactical Airlift Group) arrived from RAF Leatherhead after being redesignated tanker wing and equipped with KC-135 Stratotankers. In 1962 512 TCW (later 505th Tactical Airlift Wing) arrived from RAF Thurleigh after being redesignated tanker wing and equipped with C-141 Constellation aircraft which replaced KC-135s starting in 1969. These changes led to 1 squadron per wing but this increased anxiety because each wing now had only 16 aircraft instead of the original 24! This situation would not last long though; by 1970 432TCW (later 612th Tactical Airlift Wing) arrived from RAF Waddington after being redesignated tanker wing and equipped with KC-9A provider Aircraft which replaced C-141s starting in 1973/74! This increase in airlift capability allowed America's armed forces to戦fry multiple enemies at once without having too much reliance on one type or model of airplane or ground vehicle; this is what made the USAF so powerful during peacetime! However, American involvement in two world wars put enormous strain on resources and morale within both service branches – something that would never be fully resolved until September 11th attacks occurred eleven years later! After September 11thattacks happened America finally began addressing these issues head on; however they would take many years before they truly stabilized within both services! While some components have since been retired or mothballed (e.g., Paveway III missiles), most active units are still flying today thanks to advances in technology such as virtual reality goggles and 3D printing technology!

Great Bend, Kansas is an American county seat in Wyandotte County, Kansas, United States. The population was 598 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita–Anadarko, KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town of Great Bend was founded in 1881 by John W. Hannan and named for Great Bend Creek which flows through the town. The first post office in Great Bend was established on December 1, 1881. The townsite name for Great Bend was chosen because it fit well with the creek's name which means "the bend in the stream." In 1907, a village called Great Bend had been platted and began to grow around it as people started to settle there. By 1912, however, it had grown so large that it no longer served as a village and became its own incorporated city under state law effective January 1st 1913. The early settlers were largely farmers who grew corn and wheat but also raised chickens and pigs. Some built log cabins or erected crude frame homes while others relied more on commercially produced items such as flour, bacon and soap (which they made themselves). By 1900 a few small businesses had sprung up around this time including a gristmill and wagon shop operated by Jens Jensen; two stores opened up near the courthouse; one store ran out of flour after just one year; three saloons operated before Prohibition came into effect; four blacksmiths turned out horseshoes; six Farmers Union men fromKansas City formed a wage labor union hereabouts in 1903-04.; meatpacking companies arrived when US Steel announced plans to build an plant at nearby Pittsburg; white flight increased during World War I since most local jobs were eliminated due to military production quotas;; female soldiers served here too until 1920 when all recruiting stopped due to prohibition ; industry declined again following World War II with many factories closed within Wichita limits;; great bend lost its water supply with Pittsburg making much available elsewhere after 1945 ....
In 1867, the town of Great Bend was founded on the heels of a gold rush in that area. The town was named for Great Bend Creek, which runs through it. The first post office in Great Bend opened in 1870. By 1907, the population of Great Bend had reached 1,500 people and it became an incorporated city. The economy of Great Bend was based on agriculture and ranching until World War II when the industry shifted to manufacturing. In 1965, residents of Great Bend voted to become an independent city again and it has since grown into a major center for commerce and education in northwestern Kansas.
