In the early 1800s, Ottawa, Kansas was a thriving small town. The people here were farmers and their families who lived off the land. They drank coffee from small cups that they made themselves out of birch bark or hardwood branch. In 1876, a man by the name of John Ladd founded an agricultural company in Ottawa. He started to make coffee from beans that he found growing on his farm. In 1907, Ladd's son, Charles W., opened a store in Ottawa which became known as The Coffee House. Here, customers could purchase coffee and pastries from the owner or order food from his kitchen. The Coffee House continued to serve food until it closed in 1951. It is now a museum which tells the story of modern coffee history in Ottawa, Kansas.

In 1916, a small business called The Coffee House in Ottawa began serving ground coffee to soldiers stationed in remote military camps throughout the Midwest. Soon, word had spread and people from Ottawa started travelling to solder with their fellow countrymen in戦争-torn countries such as World War I. As the war continued and demand for more robust coffee grew, The Coffee House decided to open a second location in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1922. This allowed them to serve not only American troops but also those fighting abroad. During World War II, The Coffee House became one of the first businesses in Ottawa to start selling decaffeinated coffee products under the name " Tactical." By 1941 they were operating out of twenty five stores across Canada and United States. With so many customers coming through their doors it was necessary for them to set up shop within an easily accessible urban environment like Ottawa so that they could keep up with customer demand and serve all possible tour/battlefields potential customers on equal footing as their enemy's counterparts. Unfortunately due toienne events such as WWII rationing this didn't happen however some great examples of TACOMA COFFEE can be found around town including The Brickworks alleyway which still has its original TACOMA COFFEE sign today!
Ottawa is a city in the U.S. state of Kansas and the seat of Ottawa County. The population was 7,531 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest town in Kansas by population and has the lowest population density of any city in the state. The history of Ottawa goes back to 1854 when it was founded as a trading post on Beaver Creek by James Kutchman and others from Canada. In 1870, John Aiken established what became known as "Aiken's Fort" on land now within Ottawa City limits. The fort served as a military base until 1907, when it closed due to lack of use and being used only for storage. In 1911, Ottawa acquired its current site around Fourth Street east of Main Street where it currently stands - one block west of what would become downtown Ottawa later that same year. In 1932, Ottawa incorporated as a city under the name "Ottawa". On November 3, 1935, during World War II (the second war against Japan), Ottawa became part of United States Army Forces Europe (USAFFE), which merged with other American cities into European Theater command during World War II under General Eisenhower’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF). On May 1st 1957 – just two years after Confederation – Mayor Arthur “Pete” Friesen resigned from office because he could not agree to new taxesimposed by then-Governor Milton Jobe followinga referendum vote which had narrowly been defeated. A special election was held on October 11th 1957 in which Conservative incumbent Hinton Seifert won handily over Liberal challenger Bob Smith; this sets an early example for how local governments would beSelected & Appointed rather than through popular vote or referenda throughout much OFW history up until today! Friesen returned to office two years later and successfully lobbied for passage of an act granting full municipal autonomy within three years with no further elections required; this legislation became law on July 1st 1959 amidst much fanfare including a parade down Fifth Street attended by many Prime Ministers & dignitaries! As part of this process, Friesen also helped establish the first Municipal Planning Commission in OFW History! On February 12th 1965 – less than one year after becoming an independent municipality – Mayor Friesen announced his candidacy for re-election against Republican challenger Dick Gorman; this race ended up being quite close with both candidates putting forth very good effort but ultimately Gorman emerged victorious thanks largely tohis fundraising prowess! From hereon out mayoral races were determined primarily via fund-raising rather than actual campaigning/public speaking ability! In 1990–1992 Mayor Friesen again ran unsuccessfully for reelection but did manage to set up several important committees including developing Town Planning Guidelines &revising zoning regulations wihtout prior approval from City Councilmember Neil Weems who eventually took his place!

The small town grew rapidly due to its location on the newly opened road from Topeka to Wichita and its access to trade with neighboring towns. By 1870, Ottawa had a population of about 350 people and it became an important center for trade and commerce in the region. In 1875, Ottawa incorporated as a city under the name of "Ottawa." The city quickly became one of the most active economic centers in Kansas due to its location on top of a major trading route connecting Topeka with Wichita and other nearby towns. It also played an important role in developingKansas politics and government. In 1907, Ottawa merged with neighbouring Council Bluffs to form what is now known as "Council Bluffs-Ottawa." As part of this merger, Ottawa assumed responsibility for all city functions including street cleaning, public works, sanitation services, libraries and policing activities. Over time, Council Bluffs-Ottawa experienced significant growth (from about 1000 residents in 1907 to over 3300 residents by 1970) but remained relatively small compared to other Kansas cities during this period. The late 20th century saw significant changes occur within both Council Bluffs-Otawan City and Kansas City when waves of new immigrants arrived from countries such as Italy (in 1969), Japan (in 1990), Mexico (in 2002), India (in 2006) and China (in 2009). These newcomers brought their own styles ofarchy – some wereoriented towards modernity while others embraced traditional values and practices associated with their cultures. This change not only affected Council Bluffs-Otawan City but alsoKansas City overall; both cities experienced rapid growth throughout much of the 21st century until they reached their present sizeand composition today。

The town grew rapidly and by 1860 it had a population of over 100 people. In 1862, the town began to receive support from the United States government through the Kansas Territory Legislature and it became an incorporated municipality on November 6, 1862. In 1865, the U.S. Post Office moved to Ottawa from Topeka and it remained there until 1978. The city has experienced many changes since its founding but its core values have always been humanism, democracy and service to others.
