Berea, Kentucky is a town in and the county seat of Fayette County, Kentucky. The population was 29,541 at the 2010 census. The city of Berea was established in 1872 as a post office by order of President Ulysses S. Grant. It was renamed Berea after Berea College in Ohio where General James K. Polk had his education before becoming an American politician. The first people to live in what is now Berea were two families who moved from Lexington, Kentucky to start a new life there in 1872. They named their settlement "Berea" after the college they attended which had been founded by George Washington Carver. In 1881, the first municipally-owned electric light company was organized and began serving Berea with electricity beginning on April 1 that year. In 1907, the first public high school opened in Berea which became known as "Berea High School". On November 15, 1911, Fayette Countys first courthouse building burned down due to arson; it reopened in 1913 with brick construction but finally burned down again on May 3, 1922 due to firebombing by unknown assailants (it has since been restored). In 1932–1933, a new courthouse was built and opened for use by both county and municipal governments; this one still stands today and is used as the main courthouse for judicial purposes during regular court sessions throughout Fayette County. It wasn't until 1965 when local government reorganization within Fayette County led to the establishment of cities or towns within each county block; however, only Bereas incorporation intocity occurred on January 1 of that year under Mayor John Witherspoon's leadership with vote of 7-0 over objections from residents who felt their community should have precedence among all other municipalities within its boundaries despite having no more than 2 percent of total population! On May 8th 1967 – just over three years after incorporation – another vote resulted in the addition ofthe citys park system (along with fenced alleyways surrounding it) making it one complete community! Today's downtown area located eastside off US 82 near First National Bank contains most notably Stroudsburg Universitys campus housing including student dormitories/ apartments/retirements homes dating back to 1916!

Berea, Kentucky is a town in Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 3,811 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Berea were the Frenchmen de Laclotte and their guide, Chevalier de la Salle on October 21, 1699. They had been exploring Baton Rouge bay when they came upon a fortifications called Fort Caroline which was then under construction by Jean-Baptiste Colbert. The guides noted that there were two small streams running through the forest nearby which they named "the Pigeon's Nest" and "the Deer's Den". In 1702, Jacques Labat became the captain of one of La Salle's ships and he decided to establish a trading post at present day Berea in order to sell goods from his discoveries in Louisiana. He named it after his patron saint - St.- François-Xavier de Laval (1701-1775). In 1706, L'Ami du Peuple commissioned Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville to explore what is now Jefferson Parish and report back on its natural resources including its coves and bays where rivers ran into each other forming these small lakes known as "lac des Beres". On November 30, 1707, L’Ami du Peuple granted land concessions for $1 per acre to Colonel Robert Graves (1673-1741) who sold it off at auction on December 12th for $30 million dollars plus interest over 10 years earning an annual income of $2 million dollars! This marked the beginning of what would be called “Lac des Beres” or “Lakefront Landowning Company” withSir Edmund Hillary (1848-) becoming President Emeritus! With this valuable piece of real estate within our borders we began planning our future development! In 1855 Englishman John Brown moved from Harpers Ferry Virginia with his family to settle near Alexandria in Jefferson Parish; Browns landing being about three miles north east of today’s Berea. After purchasing some land he erected a cabin known as Brown House – still standing today located just outside town limits on State Road 249 across from First Baptist Church. On July 4th 1856 Brown opened up shop selling groceries and general merchandise during summer season only; business grew so much that he outgrew his initial store space opening a second store just south side MLK Drive southeast of town limits in 1857 serving all parts of Jefferson Parish!! On October 15th 1860 Mr & Mrs Henson legalized their marriage at courthouse here alsoing Rev J W Mosely officiating!! Mr Henson died suddenly less than one year later leaving wife Louise behind with six children!!! As early settlers arrived many brought livestock like cows etc but soon established themselves farming crops such as corn, beans etc.; poultry became popular among farmers due to ample rainfall during fallows periods followed by good hunting times during winter months

The area was first settled by English people who were brought over as slaves. In 1801, Berea became part of the United States of America and was renamed to Kentucky.
