The navy continued its expansion during the 19th century, and it now comprises over 350 ships and submarines. One of the most famous warships in Navy history is USS Constitution Museum ship located in Danville, Kentucky which was built in 1802-1804 by John Ladd at his shipyard on Louisville Harbor and named after George Washington’s flagship during his first term as President of the United States (1789-1793). Constitution Museum is also one of only two warships preserved afloat from World War II along with USS Arizona Memorial Ship at Hat Island Naval Weapons Station, Hawaii (the other being USS Missouri Memorial Ship). Constitution Museum is open every day except Saturday from 10am to 4pm since 1998; however, due to renovation work currently underway at Danville Naval Facility there will be no museum open on Saturday from 1pm until 5pm this year

Danville is a town in Letcher County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,253 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Letcher County. Danville was founded in 1819 and named for Daniel Webster. The first European settler in Danville was James Hargrave, who arrived in 1819. He erected a log cabin on the banks of the Little Belt Fork of the Chatfield River. The first post office in Danville was established in 1825, and it was renamed Webster when Daniel Webster became Secretary of State under President Andrew Johnson. In 1830, John Pugh settled here and built a sawmill that still stands today along Mill Creek. In 1836, Isaac Shively settled here and built an Odd Fellows Lodge No 1 on what is now Main Street. A store and hotel were also constructed here soon after; these are now gone but remain associated with the town name." In 1840, John Muhlenberg moved to Danville from Clarksburg and began marketing Miscanthus (a type of corn) through his store on High Street near present day Elmira Road/High School

Danville is a small town in Hancock County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 456 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. Danville was founded in 1827 by Colonel John Ford and his brother-in-law, David Dixon. The town was named for Daniel Boone, who visited the area in 1785. The first store in Danville opened on Main Street in 1827 and was run by Colonel John Ford and David Dixon. In 1830, a schoolhouse and post office were built along with a church. A blacksmith shop also operated in Danville during this time period. In 1834, General Armstrong moved his Headquarters from Winchester to Danville after losing an engagement against Jackson at Stones River. General Armstrong's headquarters would remain at Danville until he was replaced by Ulysses S Grant during the American Civil War. In 1840, the community had 9 residents and 2 schools when it incorporated as a village under the leadership of Mayor Jno Harkins with James Mays as its first commissioner of public works.. In 1881–82, construction began on what is now called First Baptist Church which served as both village hall and future courthouse until it burned down in 1901; however, much of the brick used to build that structure still stands today inside First Baptist Church property adjacent to Park Avenue (now Broadway). In 1887–88 local farmers formed a Cooperative Society to raise prices for their goods sold through Department stores (GASCO) throughout central Kentucky which helped improve quality of life for citizens living within walking distance of these stores while also providing employment opportunities for local people including many farmers who became self-sufficient due to this pricing reform effort). During this time frame further development occurred around Second Baptist Church located off Speedway Boulevard just east of I-65 northbound exit near exit 116A – becoming known as “Secondary” because services were provided only to those who could afford them (it remains one of only two churches remaining open 24/7 outside mainstream denominations). After extensive lobbying by Mayor Harkins & business owners including Jno Stephenson (& later William McGee), danvillians approved passage of an ordinance authorizing creation Of A Municipal Court which met monthly from March 15th 1899 through December 31st 1902 despite objections from neighbor’s Ranches about potential consolidation into existing court system having jurisdiction over all 6 precincts thus reducing available Village Property value) resulting In permanent incorporation on January 1st 1903 with name change To Danville City Limits Incorporation Incorporated Ltd.) By 2006 population had reached 597 Residents & current status remains thatPopulation will exceed 600 next year
