In Erlanger, Kentucky, the national guard has a long and proud history. The first national guard unit was organized in 1881 and until 1930 it consisted of only volunteers. From 1830 to 1840, the militia served as a support arm for local militias in Erlanger and surrounding areas. In 1846, the state legislature passed a bill authorizing the formation of a national guard regiment with three companies. The first regiment was mustered into service on December 15, 1846. The regiment participated in the Mexican-American War (1847-48) and in the American Civil War (1861-65). During Reconstruction (1868-77), federal troops were stationed in Erlanger to help maintain order after the end of Reconstruction south of Ohio River. On November 25, 1898, President Warren G Harding authorized direct military occupation of Kentucky by United States forces under Major General William T. Sherman following an uprising against white rule in Pulaski County; this event is often referred to as Billy Craig’s Rebellion or Brown's Rebellion. On October 5, 1907 Kentucky became one of 36 states admitted to the United States following ratification of the new US Constitution. As part of this process, Article V section 3 required that each state be admitted with certain guarantees including representation by an elected body consisting “of men who are not citizens of any other state … able to participate equally therein without affecting their own interests” This provision specifically exemptedKentucky from being admitted as a slave state because it would have affected “the interests” – that is all white citizens – rather than those “able” black citizens mentioned earlier who were still living within its borders at that time A few weeks later on October 12th Governor John Minton issued an executive order ordering all male school children between 6 and 17 years old between September 1st through May 31st regardless whether they owned property or not to rise up against their nonwhite classmates for joining what he called “a popular insurrectionary movement led by negroes seeking freedom from whiteness” . At least 100 students answered Minton's call for assistance . Assembling his personal force numbering perhaps 50 men governor Minton took leave on October 25th while awaiting orders from Washington D C ; upon his return he found more than 1000 students had already joined him at Lexington where he declared martial law;[1] however much action may have been taken due to lack thereof knowledge among government officials about what was happening outside their boundaries After declaring martial law governor Minton ordered unarmed deputies into town squares throughout Lexington demanding that anyone found looting or fighting join police instead There was no violence reported during these events although some property damage occurred;[2] most likely due mostly to frustration felt by both sides over lack of communication

The community was founded in 1875 by German immigrants, and named for Maximilian Erlanger, a landowner in nearby Greencastle. The first store and post office were built on the present site of the current community in 1880. Today, Erlanger's economy relies largely on agriculture and natural resources such as coal, wheat, cattle, and uranium. The Medical University of Kentucky School of Medicine opened its doors in 1951 in Erlanger. Other local businesses that have operated since then include A&W restaurant/bar (1973-2004), KFC (1984-2010), PNC Bank (1994-present), and First National Bank & Trust (1999-present). As one of the few communities within miles of both Lexington Airport and Louisville International Airport,Erlangler has seen many changes over time - including several major construction projects that have changed or improved its infrastructure: a new recreation center (1998), upgraded roads/bridges/parking lot(2007), new elementary school(2009), renewal of its mainstreet(2013)
The National Guard is a service of the United States federal government that provides military-style protection for certain areas of the country. The Guard has been in existence since 1792, when the first national guard unit was raised to resist British raids. Today, there are more than 30,000 Guardsmen and women serving in over 50 states and Puerto Rico. One of the earliest manifestations of the National Guard was a company of militiamen levied against Boston by George Mason in 1792. Militia units were also raised throughout America during the revolutionary War. During Reconstruction after 1867, state militias were turned into National Guards units and eventually disbanded or merged into larger forces. The modern National Guard traces its origins to World War II when President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Army Reserve and Navy Reserve components of what would becomeArmy Corps of Engineers (ACE). These two reserve Components formed separate brigades which became corps groups within Army Ground Forces (AGF) under command of generals who reported directly to Supreme Commander Allied Expeditionary Force Europe (SCAE) commander General Dwight Eisenhower. In 1946 these corps groups were combined under one unified command structure known asArmy Ground Forces Command (AGFC). The National Guard has been a part of the American experience since its inception. The first militia units were raised in 1775 to help fight the British during the Revolutionary War. After the war, both Congress and state legislatures established militias to protect their citizens from arbitrary taxation and other forms of infringement on individual liberties. The Militia Act of 1808 created a system by which all states were required to have a regiment or company of volunteer guards, at least 1,000 men strong. The National Guard was authorized as an permanent military force in 1908 and organized into brigades under brigade commanders responsible for statewide defense drill and emergency response. To date, there are more than 30 million members in active duty with over 300 battalions and regiments fielded across the United States.
Erlanger was a small town in Lawrence County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1822 by Nicholas Erlanger and his family. It became a thriving community with many businesses and residents. The town square hosted a fair every year from 1825 to 1865. In 1868, the village of Erlanger merged with the larger town of McCormickville to form one municipality. In 1901, following the erection of the Ulysses S Grant Presidential Library and Museum in nearby Louisville, all but two of Lawrence County's twenty-one towns formed an annexing district to form what is now Lexington-Fayette Metro government. By that time, only Erlanger remained within Lawrence County as an unincorporated community subject to county jurisdiction and governance only through local elections and court proceedings. The population of Erlanger dwindled over time due to natural attrition (the death rate among its citizens slowly decreased over time), but it never lost its importance as a cultural center for eastern Kentucky and throughout much of southeastern Indiana until recently when online streaming services have made such communities more prevalent on college campuses across both states; however, most people still visit downtown during business hours for shopping or history buffs are available for tours any day except Mondays when school is in session. It has been said that "Erlanger" means "town situated on high ground." One early settler reported that he had difficulty getting water from river runoffs because there were no trees near enough to provide shade from summer heat: "I saw a great many white men tan their skin so they would not get sunstroke." Today some visitors walk down Main Street while others take bus tours up back streets which lead directly into old homes built before electricity arrived hereabouts in the late 1800s: these days you can buy refreshments at several places including Greggs Bakery if you want something hot like pizza or ice cream! There's also an IMAX theater placed right next door which offers movie screenings during business hours - although I haven't tried it yet!
