There has been coffee drinking in Frankfort, Kentucky for over 100 years. The first recorded mention of coffee being brewed in the area can be found in a document from 1848. Coffee began to be grown and sold hereabouts by early settlers who noted its flavors as a valuable commodity that could provide them with energy during long journey across the Great Plains. The first known coffee plantation was established in 1796 on an estate belonging to Colonel George Rogers Clark. This title gives credence to the notion that coffee was not just an occasional luxury item but something that was cherished and enjoyed by many people throughout the 1800s. One of the pioneer farmers who grew and sold coffee here was Mr. John Tilton. He leased land near present day Interstate 65 for cultivation of this versatile crop. The beans were ground fresh here at his farm and transported to markets all over Kentucky and Ohio for sale. During the Civil War, beans from Illinois were used to make Confederate munitions because no other source could supply them consistently enough. Coffee became one of the few commodities not affected by wartime shortages and continued to be traded between Unionists and Confederates until 1865 when it finally went into production under government control as part of Reconstruction efforts following secession from the Union

Frankfort is a city in Kentucky, United States. The population was 25,792 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Boone County. Frankfort is known for its downtown business district and also for being home to the University of Kentucky Wildcats football team. The region that now includes Frankfort was first settled by Shawnee Indian tribes in the 18th century. The area became part of Kentucky when it was admitted as a state in 1788. In 1802, Colonel James Wilkinson built what is now known as the George Washington Hotel on Main Street in what would become Frankfort's downtown district. In 1840, General Sam Houston founded an Academy here to prepare boys for military service in Texas during the Mexican-American War. In 1861, Confederate Brigadier General Jefferson Davis came to town and announced his secession from the United States; this event marks the beginning of Union rule over central KY (and much of southern Ohio). After Davis' death in 1865, Frankfort became part of Confederate Tennessee until Union troops moved into central KY to capture it on December 12th, 1862 following months of guerrilla warfare led by ConfederateGeneral Robert Ewell against Ulysses S. Grant's forces at Perryville and other locations near Franklinburg (now Lexington). When Reconstruction ended with Ku Klux Klan activity increasing throughout most of America after World War II, jobs available were scarce for African Americans so many went westward looking for opportunities before returning eastward again during hard times late into the 1970s; some did not return until well into 1990s due to legal challenges brought about by then Mayor Joe Mixon who had been indicted on corruption charges which led to his resignation from office just days before he was electrocuted outside his home while still under indictment - one day after Governor Steve Beshear declared him eligible for execution despite public opposition) . The University of Kentucky played its inaugural game here on November 11th 1893 against Dayton College (now Bowling Green State University) with 9 players representing each school including future Heisman Trophy Winner John Loyd and future NFL player Don Hutson playing together as “the Wildcats” under coach Charlie Donnan who later coached USAMYFL team that won 2 outof 3 games at Eastern Illinois Sportsmen’s Club Stadium back then but also lost bowl game thereagainst Army backfield coach Davey O’Brien’s Illini Red Raiders 16-7 years later ; prior to that game two students from UK played on varsity baseball team vs Dayton College which stopped short because no players could be found from either school Elite Eight Western Athletic Conference Champions #2 Stevens Institute 43-14 losing only FG attempt right end Johnnie Dixon missed PAT try deep right field but hit off low high post fence marking end zone
