Hopkinsville is a small town in Morgan County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest town in Morgan County and is located on the southern border of the county. It is also part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The first community in what would become Hopkinsville was called "New Hope." New Hope was established as a religious colony by Methodist missionaries in 1825. In 1830, the college that would eventually become Hopkinsville was founded here by David Wilkinson and others under the name of Elizabethan College.
